A cold front stretched across Texas from the Guadalupe Mountains to the Permian Basin, with its tail hanging to just south of Fort Worth. Temperatures lingered in the 60s and 70s to the North Wednesday, and in the 80s and 90s in the lower regions of Texas. Clammy air kept most of Texas muggy. Thunderstorms punctuated the cool, cloudy day from Midland to Fort Stockton and along the southern border. Storms also blew ashore along the coast.

Survivors include her husband of fifty years, Dudley Hall Yonge of Lake Jackson; brother, Marvin Lee Johnson, Jr. of Bear Creek, Texas; sister, Shirley Ann Tipton of Lake Jackson; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hubbard was born November 7, 1923 in Damon to Dick and Annie Moskie Flessner. She was a lifetime resident of Sweeny, member of the First Presbyterian Church of Sweeny and the Sweeny Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband.

Michael Taterka Funeral services for Michael Taterka, 75 of Athens, were held at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 8, 1999, in the small chapel at First United Methodist Church in Athens. He passed away September 3, 1999, in Edgewood, Kentucky. Mr. Taterka was born July 13, 1924, in Berlin, Germany, came to the United States in 1938 and grew up in New York City with his father, John, and mother, Helene. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, fought in WWII and worked as a packaging engineer for a number of companies. Mr. Taterka retired from Argon in 1990, was a lifetime member of the Packaging.Institute, and was a jewelry designer and goldsmith for 30 years.

He had an avid interest in computers, the internet, trading on eBay and contributed many hours to Henderson County Senior Craft Show, coordinating it for the past four years. He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey in March, 1995; parents, John and Helene Taterka; and his son-in-law. Tome Woeste in August, 1999. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Marcia D. Taterka; daughter and son-in-law, Joni and Larry Bierwirth of Edgewood, Kentucky and Kim Woeste of Melbourne, Kentucky; grandchildren, Matthew, Dana, Hannah, Jennifer, Steve and Cameron; and two great-grandchildren.

Ricky Wayne Girton Ricky Wayne Girton, 48, of Angleton, passed away September 7, 1999, in a Houston hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 9, 1999, at Palms Funeral Home with Deacon Andy Shefts officiating. Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, at Calvary Hill Cemetery in Humble. Mr. Girton was bom February 5, 1951 in Houston to Frank and Joyce Ricke Girton.
