Bright lives in Waialae-Kahala. Stores Value Packed w. i Six months ago Henry Kaiser said he would start a color TV station. April 8 the Federal Communications Commission gave him the go-ahead. Last Friday the U.S.

Court of Appeals in Washington threw out a KULA-TV protest. Most of the hour from 7 till 8 was consumed with previews of other movies to be shown. These previews were somewhat less than sensational. Hollywood film techniques have changed. Clothes and styling have changed.

The men looked less like anachronisms than the women. Clark Gable came off well. But Greta Garbo, one of the most beautiful women ever to appear in films, was a loss. The current competition between independents, such as Kaiser, showing old movies great hits when first released and network stations with Hollywood's latest wares is one of the most interesting in any industry today, Honolulu appears to be a good place to watch it unfold. Daily corrections are being made. A KHVH-TV spokesman said feature films will not always start when scheduled because of varying lengths, but will begin as near as possible to times listed in TV logs. Complete shows are scheduled to start at 2, 4:30, 7 and 9:30 p.m. daily, the spokesman said. In order will be news, cartoon, short subject and feature film, he said.

"The film could start anywhere from 20 to '45 minutes after the start of each show," he said. and in his aluminum dome auditorium. Everything was on film or slides. The new station has no camera. Motionless color slides for commercials were seen first.

The voices of Hal Lewis, executive vice-president of KHVH-TV and radio, and of announcer Jack Burns were the first voices heard. Then a brief color roundup of Island news including such events as Lei Day and a high school It.O.T.C. drill-were shown. Bugs Bunny came on next.
