Klokers againat party majorities received severe condemnation by tie late Republican National Convention. Wherever they appeared olaiming ognition they were turned down. The delegation from Delaware, under the leadership of Col. Dapont, because of refusal to submit to the will of the majority of the party in Delaware, were denied recognition and the delegation led by Addicks, notorious as he is, was ad. mitted to seats in the Convention.

In the case from this Congressional District the same rule was applied, and so in every case that came before the Convention authorities or before the National Committee. In every case the kiokera were sat down upon. This is as it should be. Where a member of a political party, seeking preferment as such member, rebels against the will of the party majortty, he is entitled to no further recognition by the party. The reason for the existence of the party makes this rule imperative.

No organization of men for any purpose can succeed if insubordination is permitted. Therefore all such organizations must, and do insist on submiesion to the will of the majority of the organization. Its only method of punishing a refusal to submit to the will of the majority is to deny to the kickers all party recognition just as the National Convention refused to recognize them. What we have said applies of course only to those who claim to belong to distinotive parties. There are others who belong to no partyask no favors and act in politics as they please.

They are subject to DO rules and can not be guilty of insubordination. But the member of a party--or whoever claims to be such-must in party matters submit himself to the will of the majority. He can not ask for recognition by the party and then, because his request bas been denied, try to defeat the party. The action of the National Convention very properly settled the question in vor of absolute loyalty to the party. It is important that this action should be borne in mind right here at home.

The party leaders in Cumberland county have been disregarding it and as a result the Republican party in the county has been losing ground, and it will continne to lose it so long as looseness in allegiance is permitted. Earnest Republicans will not cordially support a man who has kioked against the party. They can not be expected to support him. The party rules do not apply in such cases. We have before had oocasion to express the same yiews and we trust that loyalty to the party will be required betore recognition is a0- corded to any one seeking party honore.
