September 8 Special A negro named Bryant has been arrested here on the charge of attempting to wreck trains or the Plant system. C. Chllders charged with burglarizing the house of Dr. W. Vaughan at Falrmont an the night. of March Rh last went to the jury at 9 30 o'clock tonight and a sealed verdict will be returned tomorrow morning.

The general impression Is that the verdict will be an acquittal. On the night of March Eth some one entered through a window Into Dr. Vaughan's bedroom. and took two books from his clothing containing 800. 3 of the amount being found In the yard the following morning making the actual loss 795.

Dr. Vaughan was awakened by his wife about 3 o'clock and at once detected the odor of chloroform In the room and on a close examination traces of the drug were found on the pillow and quilts. Dr. aughlln suspected Childers as being the guilty party and sent to Atlanta and engaged Detective Green Cone who came up and spent several days In the county working on the case. The trial commenced yesterday after- noon and over 100 witnesses were present to testify though only about thirty were used.

The prosecution was represented by Solicitor Sam Maddox Hon. J. Watt Harris. Colonel Onstarr. and R.

7. McCamy while the defense- had Hon. W. Rankin Colonel F. A.

Cantrell and Hon. Carter Tate. This is the only Important case tried during this term of the superior court. that of the state vs. Frank Bodw charged with the killing of Mollie Curtis having been carried over to next term of court.

A prominent cotton factor here said today that by ember 1st the falsity of Nelll estimate would be thoroughly established and that cotton would bring 4 cents before November 10th. Qa September 8. Special The Cedartown Cotton Company la one of the largo corporations Just been organ. tied In Cedartown for the manufacture of a high grade of cotton. yarn and embraces the following companies under Its re-or. ganliatlon.

The CedlWtown Cotton Manufacturing Company. the South Extension Mill Company. the Paragon mills. the Warehouse Company and the Cedartown cotton gin. The Amalgamation of these companies prepares the owners of these properties for still greater development.

The order has been placed for all machinery necessary to till the new Pit agon mill which will crowd the building to Its full capacity of 12500 spindles. When running. to its full capacity the mill will turn out weekly 90000 pounds of fine. hosiery yarns. The main building will be increased by the addition of a large pack.

Ing room greatly enlarging the size and convenience of the mill. As soorv as the machinery is all In. running order in the Paragon mill the cptton company will begin the work of erecting what will be known as the north extension of the original Cedartown cotton mill for the addition of 9030 spindles to mill Wo 1 which. when completed will turn- out with the other mills the largest weekly output of cotton arn here in the south. Cedartown is rapidly forging to the front not only as the center of large Iron mining industries but Is becoming one of the largest cotton manufacturing points In the south.

Charles Adamson the vice president and general manager of the Cedartown Cotton Company states that a strong company of Philadelphia capitalists is getting together the money to mild a new 10300 splndl cotton factory In Cedarton who will build and equip the cotton mill ready for running. to be leased and operated by th Cedartowp Cotton Company under e. long term of years. This new mill company is composed of Quaker City gentlemen of abundant means. whose attention has been attracted to Cedartown on account.

President Williams gave out the following statement for publication The Harrison block has been purchased by parties friendly to the Seaboard Line for the purpose of being turned over to the Seaboard in the event they should ultimately determine to build. into Augusta.

The price paid Is not given out. but it Is understood to be something more than one hundred thousand dollars. The property wlll be transferred to the new purchasers within the next few days. Prudhomme Enters a Court. Savannah. Ga. September 8 Special Considerable excitement was caused around Justice Naughtlns office this after noon by the appearance of an angry woman with a pistol. The woman was Mrs.

Fannie Prudhomme who has for some time been separated from her husband and she was In search of negro constable named Isreal Small. Small is sometimes employed at Justice Naughtin office and she thought she would find him there. It seems that Small rote Mrs. Prudhomme an Insulting note and she started out on the warpath Small did not wait for an answer to this note but made himself scarce. Though separated trim her.

Mrs. Prudhomme husband was with her in her search for the negro. and there would no doubt have been a lively scene had he been found. A complaint has been lodged against Small. DELEQAL GETS A.

Jullen S. Rodgers. The deceased was highly esteemed by all who knew her. She was one years old. Mrs.

The negro fell. wounded but got up and escaped in the darkness. The affair created considerable excite- merit In the neighborhood. Officer Gluer lives at No. 9 Mills street.

He was out last night on duty Kb eld. est son went to a meeting of the Henry Grady Debating Club. Mrs. Gloer got a. lady neighbor to spend the night with her and but for this precaution she would have been by herself when the negro entered the' house.

The negro evidently thought Mrs. Gloer was alone and he entered the dwelling for the purpose of robbery. Mrs. Gloer heard one. of her children.

In a bedroom adjoining her own. roll out of bed. and she got up to cross the hall. way. As she stepped Into the hall she' came face to face with a brutal looking negro.

She staggered back and gave a piercing scream. At that very moment the front door opened and young Gloer stepped Into the halt. The regro. seeing that the women were no longer alone turned and fled through the back door that he. had broken open and entered Olcer got his fathers pistol and was on the back' porch in time to fire one shot at the fleeing negro.

The negro fell with a groan. Then he staggered to his feet and ran away. A search was made this morning between and o'clock for the wounded but no trace of him could be found.
