Adams wants a judge to order the city to put his name on the Jan.29 election ballot and reprint ballots that have already been prepared. To run for office, potential candidates must provide documents showing they have lived and been registered voters in the city for at least one year prior to the election. City officials said Adams could not prove he has been a resident of Orlando long enough to run. have no proof whatsoever that I am not a resident of the city of Adams said Wednesday.

He said he moved out of the city into unincorporated Orange County for about six months but moved back to Orlando in November 2006. City officials, however, said there are no documents to verify claim. His drivers license and voter registration changed to an Orlando address until two months ago, property-tax bills were being sent to a post-office box in Goldenrod, and utility bills are in his name. Management at the apartment complex that Adams lists as his residence told city officials that his wife signed a federal housing certification just two months ago saying she lived alone.

Rather, the suit focuses on the wording of the city ordinance. Attorney Fred that the ordinance states only that a candidate be a resident or the deadline in this case Jan.18, 2007 and not the deadline. Adams needs only to prove that he has been a resident at some point in his life prior to that date, said. City officials maintain that the ordinance is clear. Would-be candidate for Orlando mayor sues over rules By MARK SCHLUEB SENTINEL STAFF WRITER ORMOND BEACH Police opened a homicide investigation Thursdaymorningaf- ter they discovered several bags of human body parts in a canal near Tomoka State Park. Officials could not say whether the black plastic bags contained the remains of several people or just one.

They could not give any other details either, except to say that the remains, which included a foot and part of a leg, seemed to be Afisherman spotted the first bag a standard garbage bag shortly after 9a.m. in a canal that runs parallel to a remote part of Beach Street, near the Tomoka River bridge. He called authorities, who found bags along the muddy bank, said Sgt. Kenny Hayes, an Ormond Beach police spokesman. The Volusia County Office sent a team of five divers to search the shallow, murky water and a helicopter to search the area from the sky.

No other bags were found, however. Authorities would not say how many bags they found. Thursday afternoon, the bags were taken to a Volusia County Medical Office lab in Daytona Beach for an examination. Details about the identity of the remains and information such as how long the bags were in the canal may become clear once the exam is complete, Hayes said. He could not say how long that would take, though.

may be some time before questions like that are he said. Meanwhile, Ormond Beach police are reviewing their missing-persons cases and sharing information with other law-enforcement agencies.
