York the secretary of the section addressed the meeting on uniform laws for savings banks In the various states. Alfred 1. Alken treasurer of the Worcester. Mass. County Institution for Savings.

Worcester Mass. spoke on the question of life Insurance in savings banks. Postal Savings Banks" was the subject of a paper 1. Leroy Rarw000 of New London. Conn.

Creer. of Cleveland. Ohio discussed uniform laws for savings banks. In the absence of President F. J.

Wade of St. Louis the trust company section was called to order by Philip fl. Babcock. of New York vice president of the association. Papers on subjects or interest to owners of the trust companies were read and this IL there.

was a. general discussion of trade matters. The section devoted to clearing houses- devoted the opening session to a discussion of technical matters affecting clearing houses. The feature of the morning session of the trust company section was the address of Former Postmaster General Charles Emory Smith of Philadelphia who spoke on the distinction between trusts and trust companies. Smiths address five minute speeches were made on trust company conditions In various states. W. W. Kern of New York spoke on the question of savings banks doing business in the evenings. Edward I.

A physician was called but death came within a few moments. A jury was summoned by Coroner Young and Deputy Sheriff Edgar Ross who. was present searched the premises. finding a half bottle of carbolic acid beneath the bath room window In the yard. This was evidently the poison that had been administered but a lengthy Investigation did not reveal the Perpetrator of the crime.

The mother is an attractive young woman hardly twenty years old. Her parents are dead and she hat only two uncles living. Her account of the affair was said to have been an apparently honest one. The officials investigating- the case are not satisfied with the re suits obtained And there may be arrests. The acid used was obtained from a drug store not tar distant from tli home.
