Bagley. welHUngton and Lee. LAST BATTLE FOR PETRELS TURKEY DAY BY FORD LITTLE. Well. there is just one more game to be played by the Petrels before the curtain is rung down on Oglethorp schedule.

This last game will be played In Columbus Thanksgiving day and the Petrels opponent will be the eleven representing the University of Florida. This should be one of the most hotly contested games of the season as bulb teams will He giving all they have to annex the game. As it Is the last game of the season there will be no saving of omen to engage In other battles. Both schools wilt have their strong. est ups 6n the field and both teams will go on the field with In to cut loose" and show everything they possess.

Rest assured that when the last whistle ox the referee has. sounded the best team will have aqhexed another game to' Us list of victories. Neither side will have any grounds On which to base an alibi. The only Question Is which school has the best teamr and this question can only be settled when the result of lb game is known. When these two teams met to Gainesville Fit. last Thanksgiving the resu1 was a 14 to 7 victory for lorlda This was a. much closer- score than the must optomlstlc and ardent Pelr supporters hoped for. The Oglethorpe eleven of last year really played above. Itself against Florida and accomplished quite a at in holding Florida to such a close score.

Those who witnessed the gme last year say that the Petrels Florida team during most of the game and It was only the break of the gm which was decidedly In Florida's favor. that de. termloed the outcome of the" scrap This year Florida seems- to have a better team they put On the field last year while there Is very little difference In the strength of the Petrels. Florida hi. made a creditable showing against tits strongest elevens In the south this.

year and' their defense seems al most Impregnable. As In practically every game the Petrels have played this year they are doped to lose when they meet Florida Thanksgiving. The result of the Chattanooga same was a 14 to 14 tie. Chsttanooga best Mercer 20 to 0. while Florida beat Mercer to to 0 By this rather farfetched dope Florida better than Oplethorpe by-10 points.

But the fact that Florida Is doped to win tfirows practically no light on the result of tile game. At any rate neither team is accepting the dope as true pointer of the outcome of the game. Both teams know that to. win i the game they will hive to give all they have. IC. Green. Tornados Turkey Day Game With Tigers Ends 20 Season BY WALLACE GEORGE. In just eleven days the last game of the 1920 gridiron season will be played on Grant field and the finale of this years Golden Torna. do staged.

A great year it has been for the Georgia Tech football team head and shoulders above anything. Tech has accomplished more since the memorable days of 17 when Strupper and Guyon reigned supreme and the game on Thanksgiving day Vlll be the last of the many splendid battles Tech has had on her schedule this year. One by one the mighty foes of the Tornado have risen and with a single exception they have gone down under the magnificent drives of the Tech backfield. True to form the Tech men have run in every game. this year and in game atte game displayed a ordination and.

system of teamwork that is wonderful. Indeed it ever seemed Tech really needed more worlds to conquer mightier foes to vanquish and that in each performance there seemed to be an inclination to hold sonic plays and formations in reserve until the day they might be needed more. Today Tech stands on the portals of the championship of the d. 1. A.

A. Between her and a clear title to the victors banner stands one earn the Auburn Tigers. Other southern teams hive baa to yield the palm one. again to the Golden Tornado and when the' tamed i eleven from Centre was crushed by the powerful drive of the Tech men to the tune of 24 to 0 two weeks ago. It virtually meant.

that the Yellow Jacket eleven had won the southern collegiate football race. Utile to Gain. In the. game on Turkey day. Tech has everything' to lose" and very little to gain.

Already the Tigers have felt the sting of defeat at the hands of one of their S. A. A. opponents. having been beaten by the Georgia eleven by a score of 7 to 0 on the same day that Tech at Centre.

A severe defeat it wag for them. and a crushing one. for they had entered the combat favorites from every standpoint and were Tr xi1 to viii by at least two touchdowns. Hence. a victory for the Tigers Thanksgiving will only muddle up every ones claim.

to the championship. But Coach Alexander and his Yellow Sachet. aren't counting on being- crowded out of the title so easy. This very tiling happened Just one year ago when Tech and. Auburn met In their annual grid classic ant as a result.

not any one team could place a good claim on first honors. Tech had. beaten Vanderbilt Vandy downed Auburn and the Tigers turned around on Turkey day and against alt the dope defeated the Tornado Raving the title claims in a thr icornered. tinstclw muddle. But the season of 1 I was one of ups and downs for all the football world.

Tech had gotten through the whole yr without a defeat at the hands of any S. 1. A. A. team.

and though there were two losses registered upon her Scoreboard she had by far the. mot logical. claim to the victors honors. But dope and records counted for usught then. end the mere tact that Tech was :0 points or- more stronger than the Tigers on paper' meant absolutely nothing the day the game was played.

Auburn came over quietly and without any false pretense announced themselves ready to take on the Jackets. Tech was ready. too. so It appeared and though her best player. Buck Flowers was out with a broken collarbone.

It seem. ed a certainty that she could trample the visitors from Alabama. The falsity of this seeming certainty was evident before. the scrap was really under way. But why repeat the many unpleasantrles of the dayT Auburn tallied two.

touchdowns and a safety while Tech ran over a lone touchdown. the final. count being 14 to 7 In he Tigers' favor. That history should repeat Itself again this fall seems now almost an impossibility. The Jackets have been too carefully coached.

for any thing like this to merely happen and from the condition in which they emerged from the Georgetown bout Saturday there need be no rear that the Tornado- wont be ready to ramhle the afternoon of Thanksgiving day. Siltkt Up. The coming week may see a slight' up In the work the Jackets have been undergoing- of late but toward the latter part of it the activities may be renewed more strenuously than at any time this whole season.
