By JOE WILLIAMS SENTINEL STAFF WRITER It has been quite a season for former East Ridge pitcher Buddy Glass and former Umatilla catcher Jonathan Lucroy at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette.

Glass and Lucroy, both juniors, were chosen to the All-Sun Belt Conference first team last week. The two figure to play key roles this week as the second-seeded Ragin' Cajuns (43-15) play in the College Station SOFTBALL CLERMONT SENIOR (55) slow-pitch softball team is looking for players for a Monday and Thursday morning league. LAP SWIMMING is being offered at the City of Mount Dora's swimming pool on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Monday through Friday nights from 6:30 to 7:30. Fee: $1 for city residents, $2 for non-residents. LEESBURG AQUATIC CLUB is seeking new members to join its USA Swimming team.

Swimming a nonstop length of the 25-yard pool is required. Ages range from 5-year-olds to mature adults. Six training groups are offered, starting at $35 per month. Practices are held at the Venetian Gardens pool and the 40-yard H.O. Dabney pool.

MATULIA ALL-STAR BASEBALL SCHOOL at Lake-Sumter Community College is set from June 4-8 and June 18-22 from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. weekdays. The cost is $100, and the school is for 8-12-year-olds. SAILING LAKE EUSTIS YOUTH SAILING PROGRAM coaches an active high school racing team, ages 15-18, which conducts its sail training sessions on Saturday afternoons and is preparing to participate in a National Interscholastic Sail Racing Program. Places in this program are available, and no sailing experience (Texas) Regional in the NCAA Division I baseball tournament. Their first game will come at 1 p.m. today asainst third- and also leads the team's offense in hits (91), doubles (19), home runs (17), RBIs (65), total plate appearances (275), at-bats (250) and total bases (167). He also is tied for the team lead in games played and starts at 58 each.

He is second in triples (3), slugging percentage runs (53) and sacrifice flies (4). Glass, 21, has a 7-4 record with a 3.28 ERA and pitched 79 innings with 63 strikeouts and 20 walks. Lucroy (6 feet 1206 pounds), who is being projected as an early-round selection in the Major League Baseball draft beginning Thursday, has been winning awards ever since arriving at Louisiana-Lafayette. He was selected to the Louisville Slugger All-America freshman team in 2005 and to the all-conference team all three years he has been with the Ragin' Cajuns. He also holds Umatilla's school record for career home runs with 22.

Glass, (6-1220), who is a right-handed starting pitcher, also has been an All-Sun Belt Conference player in each of his three years at the school and had a 2.17 ERA last year, ranking him 23rd in the nation and first in the conference. Meanwhile, No. 1 -ranked Tampa (52-10) will play for its second consecutive NCAA Division II national championship at 8 tonight against Columbus (Ga.) State at River-walk Stadium in Montgomery, Ala. Holt should be ready to go, if needed. The Ragin' Cajuns won the Sun Belt Conference's regular-season title but lost in the conference tournament's championship game to the University of New Orleans. In addition, former Lees-burg pitcher Jonathan Holt, who is a junior reliever for the University of Tampa, was chosen to the NCAA Division II All-America second team this week. Both Lucroy and Glass head into the regional following impressive regular seasons. Lucroy, 20, homered to give the Cajuns an early 2-0 lead over New Orleans and also delivered a grand slam earlier in the conference tournament. He goes into the regional with a team-best .364 batting average America team.

He is joined by senior outfielder Craig Corra-do, who was chosen to the first team, and junior starting pitcher Kevin Ferguson, who also was selected to the second team.
