A.U: Championships in Pocatello, Idaho, if enough money is made from the State Championships. Highlight of last night's semifinal card was the defeat of Emiliano Rodrigues of Honolulu Boxing Club by Phil Carpenter of Army in their 156-pound scrap. It was Rodrigues's first venture as a light middleweight. Emiliano belted out all of his opponents in winning the Oahu A.A.U. 147-pound championship earlier.

However, Rodrigues couldn't make the 147-pound limit at Sunday's weigh-in and so was forced to come in as a 156-pounder. Carpenter outboxed and outspeeded Rodrigues and landed the cleaner punches. Emiliano appeared sluggish with his added weight. Seasoned Army heavyweight Edward Jackson looked impressive in knocking out fellow soldier Cor-nelle Jackson in 1:30 of the second round. Jackson, who meets James Haskins, Navy, in the heavyweight finals tonight, fought Pete Rademacher back in 1956 in the All-Army Tourney at Fort Myers, Virginia.

Jackson dropped Rademacher for "the full count with a body blow but the referee ruled the punch a foul and awarded the scrap to Pete who took the Olympic heavyweight title the same year.
