Van Susteren had until recently been host of two daily programs on CNN: The Point and the recently canceled Burden of Proof CNN announced Van Susteren's departure in a memo to its staff Wednesday. Fox News Channel plans to install Van Susteren as host of its 10 p.m. talk show. She had most recently been host of The Point, a show created for her. Van Susteren had also been a co-host of the daytime legal program Burden of Proof, but that was canceled after the Sept. 1 1 terrorist attacks.

Roger Cossack, her co-host on that show, was let go by CNN last month. The Point was pre-empted frequently for news. CNN was regularly running a "Live from Afghanistan" program in the time slot over the holidays. Kate Snow will replace Van Susteren on The Point, at least temporarily.
