B8 Orlando Sentinel Wednesday, February 23, 2011 Deaths William Jackson military accomplishments put him in the record books along with such famous achievers as generals Douglas MacArthur, John J. Pershing and William Westmoreland. But friends knew Schuder, a retired Army colonel who lived in Casselberry for many years, as a humble man who was active in his church, dedicated to his family and loved a good game of golf. was personable. He was funny.

But he ever snobby or superior. He was such a nice, everyday kind of a said older daughter, Gwyneth Anderson, of Oviedo. Schuder, known as died Thursday after a long battle with congestive heart failure, kidney failure and a blood ailment. He was 88. He and his wife lived for the past four years with their younger daughter, Mary Ann Braswell, and her husband, Ron, in Winter Springs.

At the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Schuder was named first captain of cadets also known as brigade commander in 1947. The honormade him the top cadet commander in his class. Pershing, MacArthur and Westmoreland had the same position in other years. Schuder also won the Knox Trophy, the oldest military award at West Point, bestowed on the cadet with the highest military efficiency.

Schuder was born in Elkton, and grew up in Glenolden, near Philadelphia, where his father ran the presses for the Philadelphia Inquirer. He was one of 11 children, seven of whom survived to adulthood. Schuder outlived all of them. He was a chemistry major on scholarship at Temple University before he enlisted in the Army in 1942. He was selected to attend West Point on the basis of a test he took while stationed in the South Pacific.

He attended Amherst College for a year before entering the military academy in 1944. Schuder married his childhood sweetheart, Elizabeth Evans known as 1947.Through the years, the couple raised two daughters during postings that included Naples, Italy, Fairbanks, Alaska, the Pentagon and Orlando. In 1954, Schuder earned a degree in civil engineering from Princeton University. After two tours of duty in Korea and one in Vietnam, Schuder worked as West Point athletic director from 1971-76. Then he retired and moved to Casselberry, where his parents lived, Anderson said.

Schuder had a second career as the first director of public works for Seminole County. He left in 1984 and spent his later years golfing, reading military history and fiction, being active in the local Kiwanis Club and Military Order of the World Wars and volunteering at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Army Staff Sgt. William Jason Ellis is stationed in Afghanistan and previously served two tours of duty in Iraq. Erik Ellis, now a senior at University of Central Florida, served in Iraq and Afghanistan in the Army Reserve. In addition to his wife, daughters and grandsons, Schuder is survived by a 1-year- old great-grandson. A memorial service is scheduled for next month, but the family will wait until Jason Ellis comes home this summer to bury Schuder at The West Point Cemetery with military honors.

DEATHS IN CENTRAL FLORIDA WILKERSON, 78, of Orlando, FL, went home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 21, 2011from complications of a brain aneurysm. Martha was born in Fort Benning, GA and as the daughter of an Army Colonel, attended 12 different schools between Kindergarten and High School graduation. As her family moved almost every year, her adopted home became the family farm in South Georgia where she would spend each summer with her cousins and maternal grandparents.

After graduation from FSU, Martha went to work for National Bank Of Sarasota where she met and married the love of her life Hans Tews. Two years later she gave birth to a son, Charles and seventeen months later a loving daughter, Missy. In addition to deep faith in Jesus Christ, she was committed to many local non profits and charities. She served as President of the PTA at Lake Highland Prep, President of The Junior Cotillion of Orlando and President of the Orlando Museum of Council Of 101. She was a loving wife, all around fun Mom and a treasured friend to many.

She is survived by her husband Hans; son, Charles Tews (Jan); daughter, Missy Wilson (Tony), her five adoring grandsons, Tyler (15), Chas (12), Mac (10), Charlie (8) and Beck (3). She is also survived by her sister, Jackie Roler, and niece, Pam Woideck (Al). Friends wishing to call on the family may do so on Thursday, Feb 24 (5-7 pm) at Baldwin Fairchild Ivanhoe Chapel. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, Feb 25, at 2, at Prince Of Peace Lutheran Church (1515 S. Semoran Blvd).

In 2005 he was presented the Northeastern Pennsylvania Ben Franklin Innovation Award for Entrepreneurial Achievement. Wise, 43, who taught at Lake Nona High and Lake Nona Middle School, was an assistant Boy Scout troop leader and had taught previously at Odyssey Middle School, according to his page on the high-school website.

He resigned his teaching job, effective Tues- day, in a letter sent Thursday to school officials. He did not give a reason. Wise was arrested by Orange deputies on 10 counts of possession of child pornography Feb. 3. He was rearrested a week later by Osceola deputies and charged with possessing 1,557 pornographic images of children younger than 12.

Besides working with Boy Scouts and TV production at Lake Nona, Wise sponsored two school clubs and was technical director of the plays.
