Mrs. Arnette was born on August 26, 1926 in Washington County, FL to Frank and Cora Lee Hayes. She is a member Pinehaven Missionary Baptist Church, formerly a member of First Baptist Church of Cottage Hill. She was a high school graduate and was in business with her husband.

Preceding Mrs. Arnette in death was her husband, Leslie Tobe Arnette; a daughter, Jo Ann Peacock Epperson; three sisters and two brothers. Surviving Mrs. Arnette are her children, Patricia E. Arnette and Leslie DeWayne Arnette (Sheila); a brother, Donald Lewis Morris (Nelda); six Grandchildren, Collette, Marlene, Leslie Shawna, Rhett and Chase; nuor children anerous, hosreat, Family and Friends.

Boner was born in Joliet, IL on July 13, 1920. She and her husband, Emerson R. Boner, moved to Pensacola in 1953 where he was Service Superintendent at Chemstrand. Helen was a community leader. She served as President of the Magnolia Judge of the Pensacola CounGarden Club and was da Master cil of Judges.

She was Altar Guild chairwoman at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church. Helen is survived by her daughter, Cynthia A. Howard; her niece, Betty Joyce Byron (John) of Cocoa Beach, FL; other family members, Emerson Hemings, Rosemary Hemings, Terry Bebout (Peggy), Tim Bebout (Angel), David Bebout (Jeanette) and Carolyn Bebout. CLAUDIA M. BARGE DEES 1938 2005 Claudia M. Barge Dees, age 67, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2005. Ms. Barge Dees lived in Pensacola all her life.

She worked at Sacred Heart Hospital and retired from Central Supply. She is preceded in death by parents, James, and Wenonah Barge two brothers. Eric Barge and James Barge, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline Dees; two grandsons, David L. Dees and Cedric Wilson; one sister, Ernestine Broadnax; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 29, 2005 'at 1:00 p.m. at St. John Divine Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Hines officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cemetery.

PAUL EDWARD DOWDEN, LT. USAF, RETIRED Lieutenant Colonel Paul ward Dowden, U.S. Retired, passed away suddenly at the age of 44 on Friday, April 22, 2005. Paul was native of Port Barre, LA and a graduate of Louisiana State University. Paul's greatest desire was to fly.

After graduation from LSU, he received his commission as a second lieutenant and entered navigator flight training at Mather AFB, CA where he was a distinguished graduate. Upon earning his navigator wings in 1984, he was assigned to the F-4G Wild Weasel as Phantom aircraft as an Electronic Warfare Officer. After assignments in the F-4G to George AFB, CA and Clark Air Base, Middle Philippines, he deployed to the in 1991 and flew 19 combat missions during Operation Desert Storm. He continued his career with assignments in California, Nevada, Hawaii and Washington, D.C. The highlight of his career was his final assignment as commander of the 28th Test Squadron, Eglin AFB, FL.

He remained in that position until his retirement in 2004. Paul was a master navigator with over 2,000 flying hours. His military Meritorious decorations included the ice Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Air Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the Southwest Asia Service Medal with two bronze stars and the Kuwait Liberation Medal. Paul is survived by his wife, the former Lori Ann Donaldson of New Orleans, LA and his parents, Joseph and Betty Dowden of Port Barre, LA. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 27, 2005 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

He loved his family more than they will ever know. Eddie had many many friends. He was a very kind-hearted man and made friends everywhere he went. Eddie was greatly loved and will be missed by a lot of people. Eddie lived in Bagdad, FL with his mother, Rosie Land and brother, Johnny Land.

He will now live in Heaven with his father, Jessie R. Land and his daughter, Wendy Wanda Land. Mark will be remembered as an inspired and creative teacher. He was a Pensacola Junior College adjunct, teaching ceramics in the Art Department and a member, teacher and volunteer for the Belmont Arts Center. was a father of three children, Justin M. In addition to his children, Mark is survived by two brothers, many extended family members and numerous close friends. No formal services are planned. FAY BETSWORTH SHERMAN Fay Betsworth Sherman, 91, widow of Joseph Edgar Sherman, formerly of Clemson, died Sunday, April 24, 2005. Born in Pensacola, she was the daughter of the late Walter Waldo and Lillia Laughton Betsworth.

Mrs. Sherman was a 1933 graduate of Anderson College and married in 1936 in Pensacola. She was a longtime member of Fort Hill Presbyterian Church in Clemson. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Sherman was predeceased by a brother, Walter Brydon Betsworth and a sister, Elva Mae Betsworth.

Survivors include a son, Joseph Edgar Sherman, Jr. and his wife, Beverly of Mauldin; a daughter, Anne Sherman Hagood and her husband, Charlie of Easley; a son, Walter Betsworth Sherman and his wife, Geraldine of Fort Mill; six grandchildren, Joe Sherman, Opper (Dave), Chuck Hagood (Shannon), Grace Hagood, and Laughton Portia McKinnon Sherman (Mary) (Mark); six greatgrandchildren, Lauren and Charlie Hagood, Calvin and Austin Sherman, and Walker and Spencer McKinnon; and a niece, Delia Sherman. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2005 at Cemetery Hill on the Clemson University campus with Reverend Julie Schaaf, Foothills Presbyterian Home chaplain, and Reverend Connie Weaver from Fort Hill Presbyterian Church, officiating. THELMA ERNESTINE WADDELL 1911 2005 Thelma Ernestine Waddell, 93 of Pensacola, died Thursday, April 21, 2005 at the residence of her daughter. She was born on July 15, 1911 Albert and Alice Pate. Due to her mother's untimely death, Ernestine was adopted and Cyrus placed in and the loving Mary homeline George Barter. Her father was a police officer and upon his death, flags over Pensacola flew at half-mast.

Her only employment was at the Naval Air Station Nursery where she worked as a childcare provider for six years. She was a member of the Warrington Church of Her hobbies included traveling, gardening and sewing. She was a devoted mother, and grandmother, and she will be sadly missed by all who knew her and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings, Cyrus, Sidney and Rob Barter, Reba Cronise, Elizabeth St. John and Annabelle McClellan.

She was also preceded in death by her husband years, Henry Beckett Waddell, who passed away on October 12, 1997, as well as one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Bradford, who passed away on June 25, 1987. Survivors include her only daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and George Campbell of Lafayette, LA; seven grandchildren, Debra Harrington and her husband, Eric of Fullerton, CA, Donna Prince and her husband, Michael of Brea, CA, Karen Gambino, Scott Campbell, Sandra Brasseaux and her husband, Zachary, Kim Bourgeois and her husband, John, all of Lafayette, LA, and Carol Hickey and her husband, Michael of Clinton, IN; fifteen great-grandchildren, David, Kevin and Michael Harrington, Mandi and Greg Prince, Lauren and Marc Gambino, Heather, Michelle, Lindsey and Julie Brasseaux, Michael and Emily Bourgeois, and Brooke and Hickey; and one greatgreat grandchild, Samantha Claire Smith. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 29, 2005 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home in Pensacola with Tony Black officiating. Burial will be in Barrancas National Cemetery.
