Accesso this summer worked with a European theme park to test requiring reservations for its most popular rides, Chief Executive Officer Tom Burnet said. Burnet was in town last week to promote accesso at IAAPA. Accesso's North American operations are based in Lake Mary. Burnet would not identify the attraction accesso worked with. But he described it as one of the largest theme parks in Europe.

He's hopeful the system will be rolled out next year, creating what he calls a "queueless theme park experience." Accesso has a "virtual queuing" system that assigns guests return times for rides. Some are skeptical of the idea of requiring reservations for most rides, saying that theme parks were designed with lines in mind and eliminating most of them would clog other areas of the park. But Burnet disagrees. After all, theme-park guests hate long waits. "Would people trade that for a more crowded walkway or waiting an extra five minutes for a bench to sit on?" he said.

"I would." Panama Jack, Sea World split Another SeaWorld corporate partnership is ending, this one with Panama Jack. The Orlando-based sunscreen company had sold its products in some SeaWorld locations since the mid-1980s. Lynn Martenstein, a spokeswoman for Panama Jack, said the company recently informed SeaWorld it would end its partnership as of Feb. 28. Martenstein said Panama Jack was ending the relationship "based on business reasons" and would not elaborate.

"Every year we look at our sponsorships," she said. "With limited dollars, we try to make them as effective as they can be." SeaWorld and corporate partners have been the target of animal-rights activists because of its captive killer whales. The issue of captive marine mammals has received more mainstream attention after last year's documentary "Blackfish." The company has acknowledged that negative publicity has been part of the reason attendance has declined at SeaWorld parks. SeaWorld and Southwest Airlines ended a 26-year partnership earlier this year. Virgin America dropped SeaWorld from its frequent flier program last month.

spedicinitribune.com or 407-420-5240 By Sandra Pedicini Staff Writer Bob Cassata was inducted into the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions' hall of fame last week during the trade group's attractions expo in Orlando. Cassata founded the Daytona Beach company Bob's Space Racers, perhaps best known for the Whac-A-Mole. The first game Cassata developed was a three-pin bowling alley game at the Daytona Beach Boardwalk. From there, he built "Pitch-Til-You-Win" and "Balloon Dart" games that he mounted on a burned-out house trailer he assembled in his garage. In 1970, Cassata developed one called the "Space Racer," which led to the name of his company.

Cassata's company also is credited with inventing and developing a built-in accounting and diagnostic system that allows park operators to know the number of games played, the number of players, revenue per location and per employee shift. Wet 'n Wild changes leadership Wet 'n Wild has replaced two of its senior leaders. It has replaced its longtime general manager, Michael Black, with Universal veteran Jeff Polk. Wet 'n Wild is owned by JBCUniversal, which has the Universal Orlando resort Black had been Wet 'n Wild's general manager for more than 20 years. Polk has been with Universal 25 years, holding positions including general manager of operations for international development Wet 'n Wild also has a new director of operations, Dave Derda, who has been with Universal 16 years.

That position had been held by David Stein. "This was an important next step in integrating Wet 'n Wild's business and management with that of Universal Parks Resorts," spokesman Tom Schroder said in an email. "From here, we will continue to work with the Wet 'n Wild team to create great guest experiences and a strong business." Reservation-only rides in works? The idea of reservation-only rides attracted attention last month when Disney's Hollywood Studios briefly tested requiring Fast Past access to board Toy Story Midway Mania Now accesso Technology Group, a ride-reservation Akermi ri Ik. mm rWm Fox Submit professional appointments, management-level promotions, and significant awards for individuals (not companies), along with photos, online at Or e-mail them to Linger peopleonmoveorlandosentinel.com with photos as attachments.
