Hathaway sets out that George L. Smith. justice of the peace. and Constable Jpre B. Golden Illegally and force levied on her personal property to satisfy the claim for 75 cents of one Robert Armstrong against the petitioner.

The petition charges that Golden. the constable. forcibly entered the home of Mrs. Hathaway against that lady's re and objections seized and carried away one trunk and three rugs. without legal authority In view of the fact that there had been no legal foreclosure proceedings In the court mentioned against her.

and that Smith. the justice. and Golden. the constable held her personal property In their custody. until forced by her attors to return them.

Mrs. Hathaway charges that the se iz ure was the result of collusion between the Justice of the. peace and his bailiff. or constable. for the purpose of exacting money as costs of court.

Mrs. Hathaway. further alleges that the seizure on the property under the laborers lien was done in the presence of her neighbors who did not understand and that she was greatly humiliated as she is a stranger and makes her living by keeping boarders. and the shipper could never find the person to whom the goods were shipped. This practice covered years and scores of figures It was shown on the trial that Ltavell Is a confirmed victim of the morpttine habit and Is moraJly Irresponsible. Judge Speer sentenced him to eighteen morelhs In the guvernment prison in Atlanta. At the same time he certified the case to the attorney general of he United States which wilt result In the sentence being served In the government hospital in Washington. The fire started among the ma- ehinery. When first discovered it wax burning through the skylight and had gained considerable head wax The alarm wax turned In from box 32. at the corner of Whitehall and Hunter streets. The firemen responded quickly and Mon had four or five lines of hose laid through the front store Into the warehouse. Half an hours hard fight got the flames under control and prevented what had threatened to be a disastrous fire.

E. H. Polndexter Becoming Despondent Attempts Suicide This Morning on Decatur Street. Becoming despondent because he was out of work anti money. H.

Polndexter occupied the room with an other man. hlle his roommate was asleep Polndexter got out of bed this morning opened his pocket knife. and going to window gashed his throat on the right side. Inflicting a wound about Inches in length. He then sat down In a chair by the window.

Shortly afterwards his roommate was waken groans and arising lick creel Polndexter lth the blood gushing from his throat. He immediately bandaged the wound notified the police and the Injured roan was led to the hospital Polndexter is a sober. hard working man. but of late he has been out of work.
