The theme for the slide contest is "Florida's Natives Birds and Beyond." Entries cannot show humans, human-made structures or artifacts, or fauna or flora non-native to Florida. Only 35 mm slides in 2-inch-by-2-inch mounts are acceptable. There is a limit of four slides per entrant. The deadline for entries is May 19. Cash awards will be announced June 16.

'Welcome to the Woods' event The eighth annual "Welcome to the Woods" event will be Saturday at the Seminole Forest Wildlife Management Area. The concert will feature a wide range of musical styles from Top 40 to gospel. Wine tasting The Valencia Foundation's "A Taste for Learning" will be from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center in Kissimmee. Dozens of vintners from around the world will serve some of their finest wines, complementing gourmet samplings from the Gaylord Palms chefs. There will also be a silent auction. CPR The Orange County Fire Rescue Department will offer a free CPR for Citizens program in English and Spanish on May 21 for residents who want to know what to do in an emergency in their homes or neighborhoods.

Clogging The Orlando Recreation Department offers traditional clog-dancing lessons from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Thursdays at the Loch Haven Neighborhood Center, 610 Lake Formosa Drive. The beginners' session is from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., and the intermediate and advanced session is from 7:30 to 10 p.m.

CULTURE 'Anne Frank' exhibit The Holocaust Memorial Resource and Education Center of Florida, 851 N. Maitland Maitland, is presenting "Anne Frank: A Private Photo Album" through May 3 1 The exhibit features more than 70 copies of photos of the Frank family before they hid from the Nazis for two years in an Amsterdam attic. Viewing hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m.

to 1 p.m. Friday and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free. Details: 407-628-0555.

The center also will have a screening of the film Anne Frank Remembered at 7 p.m. Monday. The film is narrated by Kenneth Branagh and Glenn Close. It features vintage news-reels, photographs and even a rare home movie. Admission is free.

Details: 407-628-0555. Concert by youth orchestra The Florida Young Artists Orchestra's 2005 "Bravo! Celebration" will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Hyatt Ballroom at the Orlando International Airport. The season-ending concert will feature the Young Artists Symphony, Chamber Symphony, Philharmonic and Sinfonia orchestras. Members of the orchestra range from age 6 through 22 and are from throughout Central Florida.

There will also be a silent auction. The artistic director is Jonathan May, and the associate conductor is Michael Miller. Cost: $20. Details: 407-257-8886. Navajo art exhibit The Mennello Museum of American Art is presenting "I Am a Warrior: Plains Indian Ledger Art, 1870-1880" through May 29.

It features art using a variety of paper taken from ledger books. Many Sioux and Cheyenne warriors used this art form to create autobiographical depictions of events. Viewing hours are 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and noon to 4:30 p.m.

'Carnival Glass' exhibit The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art is presenting FESTIVALS, SHOWS Ramblin' Rose, Porchdogs, Flatland, and Doug Cloud and the County Line. YOUTH 'My Home Planet Earth' The Orlando Science Center has launched "Kidzzibits," a program that provides a rotating lineup of entertaining and interactive exhibits that promote learning for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. The first offering is "My Home Planet Earth," a hands-on exhibit from the Children's Museum of Houston.

It will be on display through May 29. The exhibit helps children make healthy decisions about air quality, water pollution and nutrition and hands-on activities spark interest in science and health-related careers. Viewing hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m.

to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. The science center is at 777 E. Princeton St.

Admission is $14.95 for adults, $13.95 for seniors and students, and $9.95 for ages 3 to 11. Admission includes access to exhibits, films and programs. Details: 407-514-2000. OUTDOORS, ENVIRONMENT Maitland tree sale Celebrate Trees in Maitland will have a tree sale from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Saturday at the Maitland Senior Center, 345 S. Maitland Ave. The group's goal is to have 318 trees planted in Maitland before the first of May. Ten species of trees are being offered at wholesale prices to Maitland residents. Planting and delivery are available at an additional cost.

Nature photography contest The Orange Audubon Society is accepting entries for its 17th annual "Carnival Glass from the Morse Collection" through Sept. 25. From 1908 to about 1918, mass-produced, pressed-glass objects with brilliantly colored iridescent surfaces were popular throughout the world.

The United States was the first country to produce the rainbow-hued art glass in commercial quantities. The exhibit features about 25 examples of this popular turn-of-the-century phenomenon known as carnival glass. The museum is at 445 N. Park Winter Park. Hours are 9:30 a.m.

LECTURES, SEMINARS Genealogy workshop The Central Florida Genealogical Society will have a workshop from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1655 Peel Orlando. Registration begins at Children's art festival The Maitland Art Center's third annual Children's Art Festival, "Fun with Color," will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday.

Art activities will include a cooperative mural, stone rubbings, collage-making and crafts. There will be a children's art exhibit, face painting, games, and hands-on activities by the Maitland Historical Society, Maitland Library and the Weavers of Orlando.
