A Cutting Scrape From the Waynpsboro Herald.

On last Friday just at the break of day two negroes. MpltOD Fulcher and John Grant had a serious difficulty on the Miller Rocky creek place which came near proving a black Friday" to the latter. It seems that John became desperately enamored of tbe charms of Meltons wife and in the absence of Mellon sought an opportunity to unburden his heavy heart and pour into her yielding ear the wild ravings of his grands passione. The fair darns soothed and flattered by such eloquent and earnest pros. testations of undying devotion unwisely permitted the hapless swan to lingertill the dawn of day.

Mellon having arrived at the house of his wife a few hours previous. comprehended the situation. and took his stand with unsheathed razor at the door where silently and grimly he awaited the egress of the unsuspecting John. Finally the intruder came forth and that razor entered upon its bloody work with jealous vengeance. At last accounts John was improving but badly mutilated.

A MASHER aHED. A. Broad Street Clerk Gei. 417 The Fate a SLanker. From the Rome Bulletin.

In a central portion of our city there stands a lonely yet pretentious house the portals of which stand ever open to welcome the weary man and to revive his inner strength with the succulent yet unpalatable boarding house hash. Around this gay and festive hoard of this particular house there dwells a youth to fame and fortune unknown whose only desire is to rise in the scale of that noble army known as mashers He is a lovely youth and is easily recognized the capillary sub. stance upon the cranium for it is always divided with paternal care by an accurate line running from the center of his receding forehead to the op of his stiflr starched standing collar.
