at Tybee. were two big events that kept all so. ctety busy. Miss Rosalind Wood was the queen of Klrmess. which was given at the Savannah theater last night and tonight and Lieutenant Stephen Mc.

Qreor U. S. A. was king. Maids of honor were Mleees Marie McAlpln Jlazelle Beard Ellen Carter Ermine Muntord Ruth Rankin and Nannette West.

The Klrmess was the most brilliant thing of the kind given here in some years. and brought In a con. siderable sum to the Daughters of the Confederacy for their confederate memorial hall. The Country Fair besides Its other attractions. was distinguished by a dramatic performance under the management or Mrs.

J. C. Tttzell In which some of the best amateurs or the city took part. Mrs. W.

F. Baker was chair- manot the circle of this end of the affair. The program consisted of a skit A Ribbon for Ills Typewriter presented by Miss Eliza Lamar Hull Miss Belle Battey and Edward' Manucy a song Playmates In which twelve bo 8 and girls represented children of jthe Fresh All' home on the beach those taking part being Misses Hendree Davis Eloise Grady Helen Stro- bar Marjorie Cults Gladys Cassels. Elizabeth Perkins and Messrs. Fred giiowden Beverley Kelley.

A wedding ofexcep tional beauty was solemnized ij Saturday afternoon May 10. at 5jf clock at the home of the brides par tits. Mr. and Mrs. Poln- dexter Evans near Forsyth.

when Miss Vera. Evans and Mrs. Fltzhugh Lee Penn of ontcello. were united in marriage. Preceding the entrance of the bridal party- Schubert's serenade was exquisitely rendered on the violin by Professor William D.

Cornwell of Monticello who also played softly during the ceremony. The bridal party came down the prettily decorated stairway through the hall and entered the drawing room to the strains or Mendelssohn's weddln march. beautifully rendered by Mrs. Jim Sutton on the piano. The flower girls little Miss Ruth Sutton and little Miss Martha Penn of Montlcello.

entered first. They were followed by the groom and his aest man Mr. Hugh Benton. of Montlcello. Next came the little ring-bearer.

little Miss Caroline Sutton. The bride en tered with her matron or honor. Mrs. John Sutton of Atlanta. and the ceremony most Impressively performed by rtM Dixon pastor of the Forsyth Methodist church.

Immediately after the ceremony Mr. md Mrs. Penn left for a trip to Dallas. Texas and other western points. The bride Is an accomplished charming and cultured young woman.

Mr. Penn Is loine editor and publisher of The Montlcello News. TALLAPOOSA. GA. Miss Sallie William entertained a large party of friends at Wlnko Friday evening.

Beautiful decorations adorned the house. the color' scheme being pink and white. Miss Della Williams served punch. The ladles present were Mlpees Mattie McBride Jewel Mdlahan. Fay Williams.

Edward Stoddard and Mrs. Hampton Wade. Mrs. George J. Baldwin and Miss Dorothea Baldwin left Thursday for a short visit to their country home at Flat Rock.

C. N. West of St. Joseph Mo. Is visiting her sister Mrs.

Gilbert Wilkins. Mr. and Mrs. John Cabell will re turn next week from their wedding trip. Miss Laura Boyd will return the end of next week from New York.

As an aftermath to the Klrmess the Daughters of the Confederacy will entertain all the young ladles who took part very pleasantly next week. The children will be given a party at the regimental armory Monday afternoon. Both the gymnasium and the yard have been engaged. for the occasion. There will be piano music for dancing and refreshments will be served.

It was originally- intended to entertain the children at the Casino but It was found more advisable to have the party In town. The older boys and girls In the Klrmess are Invited to meet the Daughters at the Casino on Tuesday evening. They may Invite their own special friends If they wish the girls In the dances which no boys took part being allowed to Invite their escorts. At the Casino they will be met by chaperons and It Is believed that a delightful evening will be spent. There will be.

dancing In the Casino hall and refreshments will be served by the Daughters. Smith Francis Huddleston Leta Jackson. Etelle Pounds Bernice Tumlln Jennie Mae Lewis. Misses Elsie and Rheuma Moseter or Woodlawn Ala. are guests at the home of Mr.

The music pupils of Mrs. J. I. Perry- man will give the annual class recital at the M. E.

church south. next Friday night. The class this year Is a very large one and the program to be rendered Is the best ever prepared. GAINESVILLE GA.
