W. Martin W. A. Remphill T. Westmoreland Dr.

Landrum and W. 3. Northen. At Trinity Methodist Episcopal church' yesterday afternoon. at JO clock a beautiful memorial service was held In appropriate acknowledgement of the een loss sustained by the congregation in tile death of their ed pastor Rev.

Wjl- llam Zaseom Stradley. DD. who died from an attack or apoplexy while visiting the home or his boyhood at Htwaaee Monroe Cotnty Tennessee June 23d. Crepe covered the front of the pulpit and' choir gaUeryand was twined around the posts of the lamps at either side of the plaiform. The tribute of flowers behind the chancel was exquisite.

The overture as a dirge and the musical pro- ramme. specially arranged for the' cuton. gas an Impressive feature. In. eluded No Never Alone the dead pastor's favorite song.

Rev. P. Lovejoy. prestflrg elder of the South ttianta district conducted the memorial exercises. opening them with a touching eulogy of his do- parted friend and co laborer in the ministry On behalf of the ministers of his conference.

Lovejoy presented the fo lowing resolutions Dr. LoveJoya Resolutions A Just conception of what and how large a place a tall. wide sptead ng tree tliis among surrounding trees begins to dawn upon us when. accustomed to Its presence we U-ok to fled the tree and it is gone. There is more skylight- than we expect to see The space is larger than we had thought.

The aunce or the tree is the l13t definite line of measurement. By and by. because of the size of the vacuum come the correct conclusion that the tree was much larger than We had supposed. A strong sided man. a man of clearness of head and purity' of heart a.

roan of real force rising to commanding Influence by his position and personality as long as he touches us every day and we look into his face and. hear bis vole and we walk the trf3ts with him is too near us for exact analysis. the point of vision IS too close to admit of accurate measuren nt True greatness expands as it recedes littleness grows less. Already the space occupied by our- brother grows larger. We or our eyes and expect to see him in the chair at the preachers' meeting leading the prayer meeting.

In the pulpit walking at our side he is not there. We look again und our loss 1 heavier the space once filled by him grows larger stijl How clear and steady his mind how gentle and stalwart his- character how tender fits heart. how great his sent how broad his sympathies how like his spirit how compassionate his nature all these and much more which enter In to term a conspicuous rounded personality. We shall not know' until such time a we have measured the large space made vacant by the death of WI godly man. Pr Stradley was.

well equipped for ser- Vice. In physical frame he was bWlded for' an athlete. and for unlimited labor. Experts pronounced him faultless. A well- shaped head adorned with a face almost beautiful was the receptacle of a brain which to all appearance.

might have en dured. without hurt. any amount of mental effort. White his convictions and temperament made him- aggressive his prac. deal wlsdcm held him.

well- within the limits of a safe conservatism. Added to his large fund of common sense was a bighearted generosity which knew no bounds. IDs charity we. limited only by bis ability Without guile- hlnuelf. he was a stranger to envy or malice.

Filled with the spirit of the Itinerant brotnerhood he felt unfeigned sorrow' for. the unfortunate and bad genuine joy for the successful brother. As a spiritual master he used no untempered mortar. Thoroughly converted and thoroughly orthodox accord- log to the teachings of Methodism his sermons were- surcharged with the- energy of the' gospel. His appeals were to the conscience and they glowed with the zeal that would be satisfied with nothing teas than instant acceptance of salvation through a crucified redeemer.

He was bold In the denunciation of sin while with compassionate beseeching he urged the sinner to come to Christ. The pulpit was his throne. as it is of everY true minister of the gospel but In. hiwork a faithful pastor he enshrined himself in the hearts of liii people. No' doubt.

Atlanta has never had a preacher who did more or more faithful pastoral visiting In the Oath of Rev W. B. Stradley. DIX. we' are called on to mourn the toss of a brother dearly beloved by every mem ber of this association.

We. loved him for his- kindly courtesy. for his gentle. Christian solrtt for hili' loyalty td the truth. for bis manly character.

Having served as. the" president- of the Methodist Preachers Meeting of Atlanta for the year 19. his brethren were so wen pleased with We services in that office that be was re-elected for another year. And now that he is no longer one of our umber. we shall miss his genial manner his smiling face and his hearty fellowship.

And although we have a keen ense of our own loss In the death of our brother we deeply sympathls with his pastoral charge whose Jo" greater than. ours. and with his bereaved wits and children whose loss is greatest of all We commend bisflock deprived of a faithful WATCHES. DIAMONDS. JEWELRY.
