A20 News Orlando Sentinel Friday, October 7, 2011 Deaths Ronald Tart hesitate to help if he knew someone was in need whether on duty with the Eustis Police Department or doing handyman work for his neighbors. His desire to lend a helping hand was the foundation for a career in law enforcement, mostly in Eustis, where he moved through the ranks during his 16 years on the force. had a strong sense of his wife, Megan, said Thursday. Tart lost a three-year battle with cancer on Sundayat his home in the small Lake County community of Grand Island. He was 60.

Aquiet man, Tart took his work seriously and established a traffic homicide procedure for the Eustis agency. A whiz with computers, Tart helped to computerize a great deal of the operations in 1986. Around his neighborhood, Tart was known as the local handyman because he would work on carpentry-related issues for people who lived nearby. helped everyone in this his wife said. who needed fixing, he would go and Tart grew up in a close-knit family that expanded after his birth in Dunn, N.C.

He and his twin brother, Donald, would become the first of two sets of twins for Talmage and Margaret Tart. The family, which included seven children, moved to Umatilla when Tart was 2. He graduated from the high school in 1969 and later landed his first job in law enforcement as a dispatcher for the Florida Highway Patrol before joining Eustis police as a patrolman in 1972. John was born in Waukesha, WI and graduated from Waukesha High School in 1936. He began his career with the Borden Company in Waukesha. In 1945 he married Lucile Langdon, also of Waukesha. Shortly after the birth of their son in 1947, John worked for a time at the Borden plant in Newport, N.Y..

While on this assignment, he attended night classes at Utica College. In 1949 he was transferred to the Borden mincemeat plant in Syracuse, N.Y.. He retired in 1980 as Plant Manager of the Syracuse operation, after 44 years with the company. In 1959, during the time he worked at the Syracuse plant, the family moved to Amber, N.Y. on Otisco Lake.

In 1998, he and Lucile moved to Orlando. They were fortunate enough to share 63 wonderful years of marriage. John served with the U.S. Marine Corps, 4th Air Wing, in the South Pacific during World War II. John was a member of Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church of Orlando.

Prior to moving to Orlando, he was a member of St. Methodist Church of Syracuse and then of Amber Congregational Church. He was a member of the Amber Volunteer Fire Dept. for 32 years and served as Chief for two years. He was always an active member of the community.

Surviving are his son, J. Michael and wife Jennifer; three grandchildren, Zachary, Danielle and Nicole all of Orlando. John was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will forever be in the hearts of his family. Services will be Monday, October 10 at 2PM in Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, Orlando with Rev. Harvey Oster officiating.

Memorial services will be at the convenience of the family, in Amber Congregational Church with Rev. Richard Chaffee officiating. Burial of cremains will be in Amber Cemetery. Lillian grew up in East Hartford, CT, where she met her husband of 55 years, Charles. They moved to Orlando in 1972. She worked for many years at in Winter Park and then at Walt Disney World Central Reservations until her retirement the early 1990s. After retirement, Walt Disney World remained her favorite place to visit. She was devoted to her family and will be deeply missed.

Her husband Charles; her parents Agnes and Anthony; and her brothers Tony and Walt precede her in death. Survived by her five children: sons Gary (Berni) and Jay (Lisa), daughters Colleen (David), Lynn (Carl) and Sherri (Chuck); sister-in-law, Audrey; beloved grandchildren Tracy, Dan, Scott, Sarah, Brad, Jess, Cathy and Bob; and 11 great-grandchildren. SEBASTIAN A 57-year-old man escaped without injury Thursday morning when his experimental plane crashed in trees on the Sebastian Municipal Golf Course. Robert Malloy, who was practicing approaches and takeoffs, said his 1999 Velocity Experimental Aircraft lost speed and was blown off course, according to a Sebastian Police Department report. The runway of the Sebastian Municipal Airport runs parallel to the golf course. Winds at about the time of the crash were reported at 15 mph, with a recorded gust of up to 24 mph. Malloy of Davenport, Iowa, walked away from the crash, but the impact with trees resulted in significant damage to the $100,000 aircraft.
