Sheriff Westcott tonight returned to the etene of the rime and has notified the authorities along alt the railroad lines to keep on the lookout for the negro1 who is marked by disfiguration of the race ann a burn on the forefinger of his left hand. Mrs. Birdsong was burled today Rev. J. W.

Simmons. of Macon. officiating and almost the entire population of the district turned out to pay honor to the goon woman. It is now apparent that the motive was robbery. It is now understood Mrs.

Birdsong's murderer killed her because she had money on her person to the amount of 22 and having secured it. fled without committing any other crime. She was two years of age. There is little doubt the negro will be found somewhere and that he will be brought back to the Birdsong place. for identification.

Only a few days ago Mrs. E. W. Cole- man. his wife died.

her remains being carried to her old home near Haddocks. In Jones county. Mr. Coleman himself Is now. vet ill with and- his life Is despaired of by his friends and relatives.
