Colonel Luther Glenn is dead. The soul of this good man cud distinguished citizen passed to the other world yesterday morning at eleven o'clock. His death will cause sorrow to many hurts for he was a man universally loved and es teemed. Colonol Glenn WI in hils sixty ninth year. lie was born in Washington county near Sandersville where his early boyhood was spent.

He was raised principally in Henry county near MeDonough. His father was a wtll to do planter and he was given a good old geld education When twenty ears of ageheenteied the state university Athens. He was a dose stud eat and in 1842 RADtATRD WITH SECOND HO in same class with T. R. ii Cobb.

young man in the university at that time stood higher than did young Glenn. He had not graduated bnt a Short while before he mimed Miss Mildred ebb daughter of Hon. Howell Cobb. With his lovely bride ho moved to MtDonoBgh and begun the practice of law. Ills practice was large and lucrative but hit ambitions were high and he entered the po.

litical world. He represented his county for three terms in the legislature. where he did his county and state most excellent service Jo every important question he took a derided stand and was generally on the right side. In 1 1 he moved to Atlanta. He entered the war as captain of Stephens's Rifles in Cobb's a Georgia legion.

Afterwards he became colonel ofthe legion. A bra soldier never skoul' dued a musket AT THE IATTLE OF fREDRrcKsDtRG he wjs shot through the left arm and from this wound he never recovered suflermg the most intense pain up to the day of his death. He represented Fulton county in both brioches of the legislature and was secretary of senate for two terms. In state and national vcihtics he was always considered a leader. llisjndgment was relied on implicitly and the people had great faith in him.

He was elector at large for Douglas for president and made a thorough canvass of the state. At that time it was believed that Colonel Glenn had no equal as a stump speaker. and his work was felt by his party. The people in Atlanta honored him twice 08 atd by electing him mayor. He mane a most excellent official and the city prospered under his administration.

He labored for the good of the city and the majority of the people and after his term expired he was be' sought to run again but declined to do so. Colonel Glenn wss the father of six children four of whom survive him and two who sleep its Oconee cemetery Athens. His living hildrenare Glenn Howell Glenn 0 ilecn and Mrs. I McBride. The first named son is one of the most learned lawyers ef the state the second is solicitor of i the citycourt and a gentleman of un- utst enable legal ability the third son rcsidcs in neighboring city an honored and respected man.

The daughter is the wile of CLK of Ulan as most yrosperous merchant To thildron he was always kind and onoiderate. and a father never lued who was more kindly trusted 1 his children. and was always at the meetings ready to lend a willing hand. It was hard to tell in which order he took the mot interest. the Odd Fellows or Masons. He was ea devoted to them as a mother to her child. His pleasant face and wise counsel will be missed.

SCHOOL OF TECHNOLOGY. Progress or the Labors of the Board misaloners. Ron. E. Harris of Macon chairman of the board of commissioners of the technological school spent yesterday la Atlanta.

Daring the day he had a conference with the governor. It was the intention of Mr. Harris to cilia meeting of the board for last week but he was confined to his home by severe sickness and could tot do so. The disarrangement of his plans caused by his sickness. will prevent his mettug the other raemb of the board In New York on the llth of July II previously agreed.
