Shepherd of cur town. owner of the Babun Ball mica time has sent a number of hands and cutting machinery to work the mines under tne supervision of Captain P. Whltehea of Gainesville Ga. Mr. thepherd leased ole mines last year to a Company and several thousand dollars worth ci mica was marketed from them.

It Is wd to be the king of all mica mines by those who have seen it and are fa. miliar with the interest. Ills located in the mica mine belt proper. The mica is clear and transparent and large patterns havejbeen cut from it. and the size increases as they go her town.

Mr. bhepherdhas refused to lease his mine to a north. em company who are anxious to lease it and had made an effort to do so. He says there is more money in working it than leasing it. This mine Is situated at the foot of Ball moun.

Times. An age colored man named Jerry Higins whose hair and beard are whitened and bleached is on trial its the superior court on a charge of murder. lie is defended by Meters James H. Lewis and Henry S. McAlpln and at the time our report closed was having the panel of jurors called.

The crime for which the accused is on trial occurred on Saturday night the 23d day of February. A young colored man named William Dunn. was paying attention to Htggths' daughter on the faun near Dr. Reads plantation on that day when a quarrel arose between the pair. The old man then according to testimony adduced before the coroner's jury.

seized a knife and plunged it several times in the side back. breast and legs of his vlc ties from the effects of which he dltd on Tuesday the 4th day of March following. He was then arrested and lodged in jail se the coroners jury recommended that he be neid for murder. He was Indicted and to day at 1 p.m. put in the box plead not guilty and desired a trial by jury.

sick with fever. A revival meeting was In progress in the neighborhood of the sick one. and the doctor concluded he would attend after administering the physic. He was late on his arrival at the church and had to take a frost seat. The preacher preached a rattling good sermon and had the people considerably wrought up.

As he closed he stated that he wanted every person in that house who desired to go to heaven to rise. All stood up except the doctor. All have arisen but one mau. wd the man of God. I will put the reverse of the proposition.

AU who want to go to hell will please the. The doctor arose tacked around and as he saw no one standing except himself and the minister he exclaimed Ba Gld I parson we are in a hopeless minority. Colonel A. has placed specimens of ore obtained with his own hands with a competent chemist who has analyzed the ore and made the following report As requested by you. I have selected from the lot of ores in your office four sample two 2 of them representing the best and two 2 the poorest grades so far as I could udge from casual exaouin. atioxis. I have analyzed each of them for copper and taken an average of the oar for tile determination of silver.

Please find enclosed herewith the result of ray analysis Though HOI directed to do so. I selected a part of the richest silver specimens and kayo proceeded far enough to show a veryhlgk result. Should you desire this determination I will complete it and send it over. Yours very respectfully W. P.
