HARBIN, ELMER WILLIAM, 82, of Orlando died May 24, 2012. He is survived by his wife Wanchawee and daughter Gwen Morgan. Memorial Service at 4 PM, Tuesday, June 5th, First Baptist Church of Pinecastle, 1001 Hoffner Ave. Jerome. LeBruno received a kidney transplant in 1990 and eventually retired from law enforcement and started the officials association, providing more than 300 umpires and referees each year for local sports events.

From the outside, LeBruno, who sometimes wore a thick mustache, had a tough-guy look, his wife said. He rode Harley-Davidson motorcycles, belonged to the local chapter of the Harley Owners Group (HOG), collected pocket knives and could talk for hours about firearms with the guys at the Shoot Straight firing range. But his wife said her husband was a man of "many personas." "Everyone that knew him knew he was a cupcake," his wife said. The same burly-looking man wore Hawaiian shirts, knew how to put little girls' hair in buns before dance recitals, played Santa Claus and visited foster kids, named all of the raccoons and foxes that entered his back yard and took great care of his rose bushes and peach trees. LeBruno was known, she said, for his dedication to the Central Florida community, his friendliness to strangers and his ability to help anyone in need.

"My husband was all about relationships," his wife said. A diabetic from an early age, LeBruno struggled for most of his life with illnesses, and he would spend days, sometimes longer, in the hospital, his daughter said. But LeBruno tried to attend every school event and sports function he could. "He was my tough old bird," his daughter said. Besides his wife, daughter and stepson, LeBruno is survived by father Michael LeBruno, mother Peggy Lee Spann, five sisters, three brothers and two grandchildren.
