B. Reed celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Sunday, Sept. 22nd. On account of Mr. Reed being so poorly, it was thought best to not have the whole family at home so Mr.

and Mrs. A. R. Eckhart served dinner to ten and supper to eighteen the relatives. Those present Mr.

and Mrs. Walter Heed of Amboy, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Reed and Marylis of Fairmont, Mrs. Alice Shuttleworth, Laurence and Paul of Thompson, Mr.

and 'Mrs, Jim Reed and Mr. Horton. (Mrs. Jim Reed's father) from. Emmetsburg, Mrs.

Wertz, Mrs. Jeannetta Palmer, Keo and Betty of Bsthervillo, Mrs. Willis Wertz, Beverley and Bernadine of Gruver, Mr. and Mrs. Fred and Fred, Jr.

of Spirit Lake, besides several friends that called at the Reed home to wish them many returns of the day. Lulu Davis had the misfortune to fall and hurt her arm quite badly one day last week. Fortunately no bones were broken as was thought at first to be the case. Lawrence Anderson entertained the Lutheran Ladies Aid last Thursday. After the business meet- Ing a delicious luncheon was served by the hostess.

Mr. A. C. Welch assisted by Miss Anderson from Estherville, held a demonstration of Wear-Elver Aluminum at the Ed. Griese home Friday evening.

Those present were Mr. and Mrs. M. O. Mohlebust, Mr.

and Mrs. M. J. Iverson. Those invited but unable to attend were Mr.

and Mrs. Gene Lundahl, Mr. and Mrs. John Griese and Mr. and Mrs.

Miss Helen Ross spent Sunday at the Wm. Mcllwraith home. Only one more Sunday until the Annual Conference, which is to be held at Spencer this year. James Liscomb has begun harvesting his potatoes. Mr.

Liscomb has 40 acres of very fine potatots. Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Evans and family of Ormsby, were Sunday visitors at the parental Martin Balmer home.

Mr. and Mrs. M. O. Mohlebust, the Misses Harker, Colby, Gudell, Williams, and Aulerich, Mr.

and Mrs. Gene Lundahl, Mr. and'Mrs. Harvey Klein, Mr. and Mrs.

J. C. Weber and Mrs. Redhead attended the League program at the Palestine Church Sunday evening. Miss Harker sang a solo and Rev.

Kloth, pastor of the Ringsted and Dolliver Luther a churches, gave a very interesting talk. Miss Mavis Olson left Wednesday for Iowa City where she will enter the hospital at that place medical treatment. Word has been received of the death of Mr. C. M.

Webb of Rolfe, la. Mr. Webb is the father of Miss Ruth Webb, who is a former teacher in our school here. We extend sympathy Miss Webb. Little Freddie Davis had the misfortune to fall in the Lily pool at the Paul Anderson home one day last week.

Kenneth Burdette heard his cry and helped him out. He was badly frightened but not hurt. Mr. and Mrs. Hans Tvedte and family of Dolliver, Mr.

and Mrs. Olaf Tweedt and daughter Olive of Estherville drove to West Bend Sunday to see the Grotto. Rev. Yeager spent a few days last week at Huntington helping to complete their new basement under the Church at that place. Word has been received 3f the birth of a daughter to Mr.

and Mrs. Gerald Stillman at Algona, Congratulations! Dolliver and Gruver pla.yed base ball Tuesday on the home diamond, the score being 6-5 in favor of Dolliver. On Friday they played Ringsted, the score of this game being 13-3 in favor of Ringsted. Marvelle Burdette spent the week end at the Dahlke home. The Living Links Sunday School class took in $9.75 at their hake sale Saturday.

They considered that very good, and wish to thank those who helped to make it a success. Lavon Sargent of Huntington was a Sunday dinner guest of his friend, Stanton Yeagor. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Huckabach of Estherville, Mr.

and Mrs. John Griese Mr. and Mrs. Albert Thassin and family were calling at the Ed. Griese home Sunday afternoon.

Mrs. Leonard Trees of Britt spent a few days the past week with her sister, Miss Clara Moltzen. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Jensen and family, Mr.

and Mrs. Ernest Jensen nnd family and Mr. and Mrs. Willis Cotton came up from Lone Rock Sunday With Mr. and Mrs.

Victor Whalen and Jackie had a picnic djnner at Tuttle Lake Park. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Moltzen, and family of Ceylon were Sunday callers of Mrs. Clara Moltzen.

South of Estherville The W. R. C. C. met at the home ot Mrs.

T. Thornburg Thursday. Election of officers was the main part of tile business meeting; Mrs. J. Kasa, Mrs.

F. Coon, and Mrs. M. Calvin, Corresponding Sec'y. All members were present but two.

O'Brien of Armstrong is at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. O'Brien, recovering from an appendicitis operation which he underwent recently.

C. Christensen and John Hansen. The Confirmation Class meets Saturday at 10 A. M. Union State Line Church Services Sunday, Oct.

6th, at 10:45. Sunday School every Sunday at 9:45. Confirmation Class, Wednesday, at 2:30 P. M. Gruver and Vicinity Glenn Snyder of Dayton, visited Sunday in the home of his uncle, Robert Woods.

Ladies League will meet Thursday afternoon of this week with Mrs. Bill Ramsey and Mrs. Billie Higinbotham serving. A short missionary program will be given. Robert Woods lost a good horse last week and Arnold Carey lost one the first of this week.

The nature of the ailment his not been determined, but is though: to be a poison. Miss Thelma Ressler was a week end visitor in the home of her sister, Mrs. Ray Delllng near Superior. Mr. and Mrs.

Niles Wertz and daughters drove to Dolliver to meet with other relatives of Mr. and Mrs. S. B. Heed, who were quietly celebrating the 00th wedding anniversary of the couple.

Grandpa Reed has been ill for some time and was not feeling as well as usual. Willis Wertz and Gus Knutson trucked a load of stock to St. Paul Wednesday night and on Sunday night Willis and Vernie 'Wertz trucked- a load to Sioux City. Miss Mildred Johnson left Sunday for a visit in the home of her mother, Mrs. Oscar Johnson in Minneapolis.

On Sept. 30th she will enter a hospital there to take nurses training. Mr. and Mrs. George Kenilne left Sunday by auto for Oklahoma City, to visit in the home of Mrs.

Kenline's twin brother, W. Smith nnd with other relatives. They will also visit points in-Iowa and Nebraska before returning. Mr. and Mrs.

Charlie Higinbotham enjoyed a visit Thursday from their nieces, Mrs. Floyd Fisher and Mrs. Christensen of Forest City. Mrs. A.

M. Brown and daughter, Mildred and Mrs. Willis Wertz and Mrs. Lawrence RIcke were shopping in Fairmont Thursday. Robert Andrews, son of Mr.

and Mrs. A. C. Andrews enrolled as a Senior in the Estherville school last week and is boarding with his aunt, Mrs. Walter Wilson.

Mr. and Mrs. George Davis of Estherville and daughter, Miss Lillian Davis, of Parsons, were Sunday dinner guests in the home of their daughter and sister, Mrs. J. E.

Goldsberry. Mrs. Earl Wilcox was hostess to the members of the Center Country Club at her home last Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Oscar Wickens is entertaining the Midway Country Club members in her home in Estherville.

L. McCoy has rented the farm occupied by Mrs. Nevin Gilleland, west of Estherville and will move there in the spring. The Ray Scott family from Wallingford will move to the farm to be vacated by Mr. McCoy.

The Misses Mary and Marie Reid will leave this week for Des Moines where they will enter the Thompson School of Beauty Culture. The Maple Hill ball team played the Gruver high school team on the home ground Friday afternoon, Gruver winning by a score of 13-3. On Tuesday afternoon a ball game between Ringsted and Gruver was played on the Gruver grounds. Mrs. Zadie Krieger of Lockport, 111.

and Mrs. Arthur King of Elgin, 111., came Saturday and were week end guests with Mrs. King's brother- in-law, J. H. Merrlott in Estherville.

They visited the flrst of the week with her brother. Gene Pickell and other relatives. Mrs. King was formerly Mrs. Gertrude Davis.

The members of the Triple C's met Wednesday afternoon in the home of Mrs. Guy Ramsey near Maple Hill. The next meeting will be in the home of Mrs. Harry Webber. Faunlette Hays was a week end visitor in the home of her grandparents, Mr.

and Mrs. Win. Hayes. Mrs. Elbert Hayes and son Junior left Saturday night for California for a two weeks visit with her parents, Mr.

and Mrs. Anthony Kulte and other relatives. Mrs. Vanche Miller of Estlnrville was a guest Wednesday in the home of her niece, Mrs. Robert Harvey.

Matter of Time Until WPA Projects Will Be Approved Here There seems to be no use of getting all fussed up because we did not get on the first list out oE projects granted by the Government.

There were about one hundred and twenty projects approved in Iowa. We understand that Polk County had-some one hundred and ninty projects on flic. There were probably thousands of projects filed in Iowa alone and every state had to have some to start with. The theme is planned for the children, title "Three Keys I Need." We are inviting all church school members, church members and parents of enrolled children to these morning services of the church.
