Heeaidthat the night UnltfdiBtates' CommIsatonOl Aaron Collins house WM blown up he his brother Sam and Jim Beard went to Dr.

Bikers office to consult elm about tond Jason wished to make. This bond was necessary because Jackson had been arrested on account of alleged. violations of the internal revenue laws. When Jackson his brother sad Jim Beard reached Dr. Bakers office they found Mr.

Gus Baler there. la the course of the conversation about the bond Dr. Baker said If you fellows had any spunk the thieving sccundrel. that have been troubling you wouldn't live much longer. THIS FJBZD BZARD- who exclaimed with a number of profane expressions by way of emphasis If I had a dynamite cartridge Id blow up seme of the thieving scoundrels If you want to blow zip anybody Dr.

Baker said jou can esaily get the dynamite. All right Beard replied which one of the scoundrels shall I blow up The names of several persons obnxious to Jackson and his gang were discussed and Collins was finally decided upon bec nse his house was convenient to Dr. Bakers office. At this point Beard wanted somebody else to place the dynamitennder the house. DrBiker taunted him with cowardice.

lm no said excitedly got the djnamite and see what Ill do. Mr. Gus Baker accompanied by two others or the party- went to the hardware store of Baker Hall where he procured the dyne mite. He took from a box four cartridges each packed in sawdust. Returning to Dr.

Bakers ffice Mr. Gus Baker placed Ii cap and fuse in one of the cartridges. Not satisfied that one wtnld blow Collins's house high ricrigh he tied Mother to that in which he had plaed tbe cap and fuse. BYAn TOOL THE DYNAMITE and tailed out of the office. Hold on said Dr.

Baker. here is some sawdust on the table. Wait till I brush it oil. carefully removing the sawdust Iron the table Dr. Baker told Beard not to tire the fuse until he should see the tight go out in the office.

For continued Dr. Baker I want to un. drees and get into bed before the fun begins. When Beard left the office Jaektor. his rctl er and Mr.

ins Baker also left the lit. ter thlee walking off in a direction opposite Collins's house. Beard who wastvidently rightered reary out of his wits did snot place the dynamite where it wotild do muib damage lie placed it either on the front porch or under it. As soon as fired the fuse ire fled in the direction taken by the other three men. This story-it is understood was substantiated by Sam Jackson and Beard.

If there WEJe other witnesses before the grand jury they are rot known. It is said that the true bill against Mr. Gas. Baker was baud on Friday afternoon or yes- tel day. TEE BILL ST DR.

BAKES was found this morning. When. hp heard of il- ho immediately went to thb cttlthouse and surrendered himself to the sherir. lie then made application to be released on bond. Solicitor General said that he did nut think a bond necessary.

Dr. Baker replied that he had no favors to ask of the state or of tie court that he was ready to give bond. sad that he insisted upon being- allowed to do so. Judge Fein fixed the bond at one thousand dollars Mr. W.

V. Baker Dr. Bakers brother becoming tecurity. It was reported yesterday morning that tin. Gus Biker had fled.

Ho did leave the town early Stturfiay morning but ho returned and was seen here several times yesterday after- noon. His friends say that lie wnfbe forth. coming. They declare that he will give bud as easily as Dr. Baker did.

While it has been minored for some time that it was probable true bills would be found gainst Dr. Baker and his brother yet the fact that they lave been found causes a great deal of uuaion. Dr. Biker is one of THE MOST PROMINtT MEN in Bartow county. He has several times represented the county in the lower house of the legislature lid once represented the district in the senate.

He is possessed of considerable ploperty. His practice is large and Inactive. In Cuternllle he has for many years been identified with nearly every important political movement. and also with many basinets enterprises. Tint such a.

man should be indicted for assault with intent to commit murder naturally causes Be profound sensation. Dr. Baker emphatically denies any sort of complicity with the Jackson's and Beard in tie blowing up of Collins's house. A. st ta ment obtained this morning from his friends sad a member of Iris family is as follows- Thf re are two factions in rtow county with one of which Dr.

Biker has heretofore bun identified. Certain leaders of the other faction have tong tried to injure Dr. Biker and have now seized upon the Jackson dynamite outrage as the means of accomplishing their purpose. When Jackson was tried for blowing up Collins's house he his brother and Beard wore that they were NOT CONCEERED IN THE CUTBACK. They cud not a tingle word that would iou.

plicate either Dr. Bak or Mr. Gus Biker. Yet thete mennow say in effect that they peJjared themselves. There are several reasons why the Jacksons and Beard have at tempted to implicate Dr.

Baker. He was on Jackson's bond. but withdrew front it because be thought Jackson was about to leave the state In subsequent cases when Jackson ant BtardwinUdDrBakerto be their security refused because ho had boon censured by good citizens for showing thy fur. such men. Dr.
