4B The NEWSpapers of Iowa County May 13, 1976 CELEBRATE 40TH ANNIVERSARY The Marcia Federated Club celebrated its 40th anniversary May 3 and honored the charter members of the organization. Those present who were charter members are, left to right: Viola Dubishar, Winnie Newcomb, Bernice Hughes, Meda Rehfeldt, Martha Von Hoene, Lola Poulson, Gladys Martin, Myrtle O'Donnell, Stella Wardenburg, Eunice Yearian, Gwendolyn Jones, Melba O'Donnell, Olive Driscoll, Lareta Bricker and Evelyn Engelbert. Dean Keller Earns Degree, Family Attends Ceremony Dean Keller, son of the Marvin Kellers, Ladora, received his B.A. degree in philosophy in commencement ceremonies at Divine Word college, Epworth, Sunday, May 9. The college celebrated' a 100th anniversary of the founding of the institution also during two days of activities.

Keller's parents and family attended commencement. Other family members present "were, the Dwight Kellers, Des Moines: Terrie Johnson, Marengo: Betty and Jerry Cedar Rapids: the Adloph Sevciks. Clutier: Richard Wacha, Carla and Gary Sevcik, Toledo: the Lawrence Cibula family, Chelsea: and Verna Sevcik, Iowa City; and the Charles Sobodas, Clutier. Honor Charter Members Marcia Federated club, Williamsburg, held the final meeting of the 1975-76 season Monday evening, May 3. In observance of their 40th anniversary the club met at Amana Holida'y Inn with 55 members, charter members and guests at- Mrs.

Werner Gives LWML Report At Immanuel Church Mrs. Edgar Heitshusen was hostess to 27 members of the Immanuel Lutheran Ladies Aid at the church, Wednesday afternoon, May 5. Mrs. John T. Werner gave a report on the LWML rally held at; Conroy and hosted by iSt.

Martins church, Marehgo. She also announced the date of the LWML convention, which will be held At Iowa Falls, June 15. The Wayne Renning led a question, answer and discussjon period on the topic, "Divorce." During business meeting it ivas decided the women will participate in another clothing drive for World Relief about June 1. tending. Following family style dinner, Mrs.

Fred Lee, president, recognized the charter members. Mrs. Roy Baker, First District director, Le Claire, was acknowledged. Susan Bamrick, second place winner of an IFWC sponsored sixth grade essay contest, read her paper on "A Past to Honor, A Future to Mold." Girl Scout leaders Mrs. Fred Becker and Mrs.

Raymond Knapp presented a slide- music program they helped troop 92160 of Williamsburg compose called "Iowa County Country." Marcia Federated Club presented a sponsorship check to the Girl Scouts. The speaker for the evening was Mrs. Isabel Mack, coordinator at Kirkwood community college. She spoke on the importance of a good sense of humor as women do their jobs as homemakers and mothers. New officers installed were: president, Mrs.

Ronald Gahring; vice- president, Mrs. George Stahl; secretary, Mrs. Clyde Allgood; treasurer, Mrs. Rodger Sprouse. Before the meeting was adjourned anniversary cake and coffee were served.

Tiiton Church Hosts Shower For Vivian McGuIre Millersburg: A shower was given by the Tiiton church missionary group, Saturday afternoon, May 8, for Vivian McGuire, rural North English. The committee, Mrs. Allen Ritchie, Mrs. Dick McWilliams.and Mrs. Donald McCulley, used blue and white in the decorations.

Miss McGuire will marry Wesley Haper, College Springs, June 12, in the Tilton Church. The couple will make their home in Clarinda. Fred Koenigs Entertain Bowlers At South Amana The Fred Koenigs, Marengo, hosted a dinner at the Colony Market Place, South Amana, Friday night, May 7 honoring the Iowa Valley Mobile Estates bowling team, of 1975-19761 Wonder bowling league. Guests were the Bob Findlays, the Allen Koenigs, the Tim Griggs', the Dave Pattens, and Bill Primley. The Harlan Fields were unable to attend.

Baptismal Dinner Is Given For Jennifer Montross Jennifer Lynn, the infant daughter of the Larry Montross', South Amana, was baptized at the morning service Sunday at St. John's Lutheran church, Marengo. The Rev. Robert C. Jacobs officiated and sponsors were the James Tankes, Millersburg.

A dinner in honor of the infant was given at the of her parents following the service. Guests besides the sponsors were the grandparents, the Clement Slaymakers, Marengo and the Pete Montross', Millersburg. Also the great grandparents, the Ray Slay- makers, Marengo. Others were: Mrs. Margaret Zigler, Belle Plaine; the Leroy Slay- makers, Walford; Rev.

McGiverns, Marengo, has been selected by American Legion auxiliary, Marengo, as Girls' State delegate at the annual summer session. Miss McGivern served as CAROL MCGIVERN student council representative one year and was selected as one of three representatives for Future Homemakers of America state convention.

She has been a member of the concert choir, and appeared in a number of plays and musicals at Iowa Valley high school, where she is enrolled as a junior. In addition, she has com-' peted in district and state large group music contest and as a contestant in large group and individual speech contests. She has been a member of Thespians, American Field Service, FHA and served as co-editor of the school newspaper. Active in athletics, she has participated in basketball, track, golf and softball, each one year and ran cross country two years. She was a sophomore prom server and has served as a lector in St.

Patrick's Catholic church. Vicky Henson Has Bridal Shower In Finley Home Vicky Henson daughter of the Clarence Hensons, Geneso, 111., was honored Saturday afternoon, May 8 at a personal shower in Bryan Finley home, Marengo with 20 guests-attending. Her colors, peach and white, were carried out in decorations and refreshments. Hostesses were Mrs. Myron Christy, Mrs.

Gene Finley, Mrs. Dale Finley, and Betty Finley. Miss Hensen and Jerry Finley will be married June 5 in Geneso, 111, Marengo OES Plans Degree Ceremonies Marengo chapter of the Order of Eastern Star will hold their regular meeting Tuesday, May 18 at 8 p.m. Past matrons and past patrons will be honored and there will be conferring of degrees. Keith Wilson, accompanied Linda Watts, soloist, who sang "We Have Only Just Begun" and "The Lord's Prayer." Two baskets of gladiolus decorated the church altar. Designed in organza and Chantilly lace, the bride's white empire gown featured a scoop neckline, long fitted sleeves lace hemline and cape train. Her veil was chapel length and she carried a bouquet of white daisies. Her maid of honor was Kay Haman, Cedar Rapids, while Linda Reed, Cedar Rapids, was bridesmaid. Their long green dotted Swiss had bell sleeves.

Each carried a bouquet of yellow daisies. Ralph Allen Zaiger, Panama City, served his brother as bestman. Groomsman was Dale Alstat, Cedar Rapids. Usher- ijig were Walter Smith, Marengo, the bride's brother, and Bob Thorkildson, Cedar Rapids. Men were attired in brown tuxedos and had white carnation boutonnieres.

A long mint green dress was selected by the bride's mother, while the bridegroom's mother chose a long floral print gown of white; beige and orange. Their corsages were white miniature roses. A reception was given in the church. Susie Smith registered Cake was cut by Marie King and Muriel Ballard. Pouring were Suzie Emerson and Kris Dy vad.

The bride's table was served by Kathy Baty, Joyce Stephek, Debbie Emerson and Kim Minninger. The couple will reside at 717 34th St. N.E., Cedar Rapids. Knock Honored Sunday For 82nd Birthday The children of Mrs. F. F. Knock, Williamsburg, planned a combined birthday and Mother's day observance for her, which was held Sunday at the Farm Bureau building. The cooperative dinner served at noon was in honor of the 82nd birthday of Mrs.

Knock. Her children are the Mervin Knocks, Williamsburg, the Byron Knocks, Hopkinton and the Delmar Knocks, also Williamsburg. They were assisted in the event by their families. About 60 relatives and friends gathered for the dinner and social afternoon. Mrs.

Knock received a number of cards and gifts. Among the guests present were the Rev. and Mrs. L. H.

Aurich and family and Vicar and Mrs. R. R. Yung- mann and family..
