EGGS TWELVE PAGES "DEVOTED TO THE INTEREST OF MAGEE AND SIMPSON COUNTY" DIXIE BOOKBINDING CO. 215 S. ST. 30201 THIS WEEK COPY THE MAGEE COURIER TWO SECTION MAGEE, MISSISSIPPI, 39111 THURSDAY, AUGUST 17, 1967 ESTABLISHED MARCH 19, 1899 DEMOCRATIC SQUIBS By: G. O.

P. One by one, they continue drag back home off the "Hancock Trail." Mercy! there must have been a bunch of us down there as the dust ain't settled since August 9th. Seems like friend Henry Harris. editor of the West Point Times Leader, has been having rather busy mail calls since his unsuccessful support of Ross Barnett. Amid a bevy of sympathy cards, Henry recieved a piece of sandpaper without instructions and he questioned in his column last week "what am I supposed to do with it?" Henry, my boy, this is an unwritten sentiment.

Haven't you heard the little diddy about what the little dog said when he accidentally sat on a piece of sandpaper? He said, "r-u-f-f." If you don't believe that school is about to begin, just feast your eyes on this week's Courier. We are carrying the teacher pupil placement list: the faculty lists of the various attendance centers; football schedules; and registration information. The ole summer has fleeted away and before you can blink both eyes, you will be hearing the familiar clang of school bells. Coach Malcolm Nesmith's Magee Trojans have been picked once again as Number 1 team in the South Little Dixie with the Mendenhall Tigers being picked for the Number 2 slot. Phil Wallace, in his Jackson Daily News column, stated that the Trojans were the unanimous pick of all SLD coaches with the exception of Nesmith, who cast his vote for Mendenhall, because, under the rules, he could not vote for his own team.

To be selected Number 1 is a tremendous honor, but along with the honor goes a great disadvantage to the coaching staff. Everybody will be shooting to knock off the "top gun" in every game and that means that you've got to go full blast from the start to the finish of the sea: son. Congratulations, Trojans! Getting ready to defend this top position, the Trojan squad left Monday for a two-week football camp at McComb. This is the first year the Trojans have used this camp and this is the first year they have undergone a two-week knocking in their camping experience. Oh, those bruised muscles, those aching feet and decreased waistlines they must have by now.
