tf Officers Bryan and Lindeman dis persed a big gang of bums who con gregated here yesterday afternoon. A bunch of twenty were drilled out town and sent west along the P. F. Just a quorum of councilmen, Harter, Lehmkuhl, Kaverman, Flanagan and Sevitz, were present last evening when the meeting wns called to order at 7:45 by Chairman Baxter. Fast came few minutes later.

City Clerk Lindeman was suffering with an annoying headache, and on motion of Harter and second by Flanagan the the minutes wns dis- pensed'with. The bills were next read, and on motion of Flanagan and second by Sevitz, all labor bills, also those of Messrs. Gamble, Baxter and Walkup were allowed on the evening's ordinance. The bill George Auer, calling for $412.60 for putting a new furnace in the City Building, was referred until the heater can be given a thorough test. The part for repairing the old heater was allowed.

The remainder of the bills were referred to the Claims committee. Harter reported that instead of the Penna. company putting up an arc lamp at their crossing on Jefferson street, as requested of them the Clerk, a coal oil lamp had been mounted on a post. On motion of Harter and second by Kaverman the matter was left to the Street Light and Police committee to see that the orders of the council were fulfilled. Kaverman reported on the dirty condition of the water King Bros, drug store.

the council and Fast gave assent that the Fire Department committee see that the well was attended to. Kaverman again brought up the matter of the defective floors on canal ridges, and the one at Third street particular, where a two-inch crack ixists, and many of the boards are langerously worn. On motion of Fast and second by Harter the Clerk was instructed to once more notify commissioners in regard to the matter. Fast, of the Fourth. ward, then took the floor, and in determined words, spoke of the crying necessity of a watchman at the Main street crossing of the P.

F. railroad. There is not a more dangerous crossing in the city than this one, as Mr. Fast can testify, as he was nearly caught and crushed the cars at that point a few days ago while trains were switching on the main and side tracks. Mr.

Sevitz heartily agreed with him that a watchman should be stationed there, and stated that three years ago by a vote of the council the Clerk notified Bismarck, the great clear Havana 5 cent cigar for sale only at Hotel Bismarck. 40-jl Nine bums fell in line and filed out of the tramp room this morning at the command of the turnkey. The arc lights on the streets were out for a considerable length of time last night, caused by a break in the line. The stores of Delphos have been thronged with customers for the past few days and this evidences the fact that our merchants are doing a big business. The remains of Miss Belle O'Donnel were interred in the East Side cemetery this morning, and were followed to their last resting place by a large concourse of people.

The pesky things should be branded with labels as "poiaon" and a heavy fine administered for having such goods in stock. the company to take such action, but the matter fell through for some reason.

Mr. Sevitz has been located at the W. Mills elevator for 11 years, and during that time has saved many people and teams from, injury and possibly death. No bad accident has ever happened there, but the danger is apparent, and as "a stitch in time saves nine," Harter moved and Flanagan seconded the motion that the matter be left to the Improvement Committee to £ee what can be done on that line and report at the earliest dale possible.
