courierpostonline.comCOURIER-POST,Tuesday,January31,2017 9A Emma Marshall Field, age 87 died on January 27, 2017. Raised in Pitman, Emma graduated from Pitman High School in 1946. She formerly lived in Ocean City and Franklinville and has lived in Clayton for over 60 years. She received her Degree in Education from Montclair State College in 1950. Emma taught in elementary schools in Woodbine, Ocean City, Franklinville, and retired from Winslow Twp.

School where she taught for 14 years. She is a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Clayton and a former member of the Pitman United Methodist Church and St. United Methodist Church in Ocean City. Emma enjoyed being a lay delegate to the NJ UMC Conferences for several years. She was an active member of the United Methodist Women both regionally and locally, holding the ce of president for many years.

As a member of the American Assn. of University Women Emma was always collecting books for their book sale and campaigned for the establishment of the Gloucester County Library System. She was a lifelong member of NJEA and helped establish the Franklin Twp. Chapter. An avid bridge player, Emma was also a member of two bridge clubs which have met for over 50 years.

She was predeceased by her daughter Susan J. Survived by her husband of 62 years Edmund children Harry Jeffrey E. (Sandra), David B. (Denise), Kimberly E. (Edwin) Schaffer, grandchildren Jeffrey Jenna Field, Patrick, Casey, Zachary Carley Schaffer, Jessica William Field, and sisters-in-law, Beatrice Marshall, Mary Koch Beatrice Frazier and many nieces and nephews.

She was also predeceased by her parents Margretta L. and G. Richwood Marshall her brothers G. Richwood (Dick) Marshall Rev. James W.

Marshall Harry F. Marshall, and sisters Beatrice V. Genter Margretta (Peg) Sterner. Friends may greet the family on Tuesday 7-9pm at the Kelley Funeral Home, 125 Pitman Ave, Pitman, NJ and Wednesday after 10am at Trinity United Methodist Church, 351 N. Delsea Dr, Clayton, NJ 08312.

(Doug) COLE, 67, of Medford, NJ passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 30, 2017, in Moorestown after a battle with a rare form of dementia. Doug was born in Northampton, MA, to Jane and Alton Cole on April 13, 1949. With a father in the Air Force, Doug also lived in Colorado, Alabama, Virginia, England, and Connecticut, where he attended E. O. Smith High School in Storrs.

He married Jane Thompson Cole on May 31, 1969 in Amherst, MA. He graduated from the University of Connecticut as an ROTC cadet with a degree in Speech Communications in 1971 and a degree from Webster University in St. Louis. Doug was a veteran of the rst Gulf War and the Grenada Invasion while serving 20 years in the Air Force. After retiring from the Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel, he worked as a pilot for American Airlines for 19 years, substitute teaching in the Medford schools, helping his sons with their small landscaping business, and making deliveries for Spotts Garden Center in Medford on his days off.

Doug was an avid golfer, loved spending time at the beach and by his backyard pool with friends and family, and enjoyed keeping his yard looking pristine. Those who knew him well knew he was as honest as they come, willing to help anyone at the drop of a hat, and always put family rst. The family of Douglas Cole wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff at CareOne Harmony Village in Moorestown. Doug is survived by his wife Jane; three children and their spouses, Jeffrey and Stacy, Jennifer and Timothy, and Christopher and Kelly; brothers Barry, Jeff and Ray; grandchildren, Rylie, Payton, Tanner, Brynnley, Braydon, Courtney, Bridgett, and Logan; and many who are proud to call him a friend.
