Of these brethren it is written: "they continued steadfastly in the apostles' WHAT IS IT? The doctrine or teaching offered by the doctrine. apostles is the apostles' The men of God received it from the coming of the Spirit. (Acts Prior to advent of this message by the Holy Spirit, the apostles knew of Jesus, and could undoubtedly related vast data of the times and actions of Jesus. BUT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE FULL GOSPEL STORY, until the Spirit brought the teaching to them at Pentecost. WHAT DID IT DO? It granted the full equipment to relate the story of salvation, through obedience, to the gospel, to the vast multitudes in Jerusalem and later through out the world.

The apostles had performed miracles on their preaching of the first commission. (Matthew 10). But they did not tell men how to be saved from sin until after the coming of the Spirit message. WHAT WAS THE REPLY. The message delivered by Peter, (Acts was the same as the others related.

Under conviction the 3000 ask: "Men and brethren, what shall we do?" The Spirit. message answered: "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of Acts 2:38. HAVE YOU? That is the question Christ asks of you today. Have you repented and been immersed for the remission of your sins? Remember, in days when people think pf the Spirit teaching, the message comes clear and loud: Turn from your sins and be immersed in the name of Jesus Christ for the true forgiveness of your sins. MARCH 23rd (tree will offering no admittance charge) RELIGION IN THE NEWS- CHILLICOTHE CONSTITUTIONWomen in the priesthood has friends and foes in churches By GEORGE W. CORNELL AP Religion Writer NEW YORK (AP) The drive for admission of women to the priesthood, already a boiling Church, issue in the Episcopal now is surfacing on a wider front among Roman Catholics. It previously simmered mainly in the background, a matter of theological analysis, but a broad-based Roman Catholic coalition now is launching active efforts to extend ordination to women.

The move is being coordinated by an umbrella group called the Ordination Conference Task Force, involving representatives of several seminaries and of eight national organizations of Catholic nuns and other women. "It's the first definitely focused, grass-roots movement, involving a wide spectrum of American Catholics attempting to open the priesthood to says Sister Patricia Hughes of Chicago, a spokeswoman for the group. This week, it announced plans for a national conference Nov. 28-30 in Detroit on the theme, "Women in the Future Priesthood Now, a Call to Action," with expected participation by about 600 theologians, priests, sisters, laity and some bishops. "We're acting in love and loyalty to the church," Sister Hughes says.

"If we didn't love the church, we would not be seeking the priesthood." Their objective, however, still appearsdistant, considering the prevailing stand against it by the world's Catholic bishops, including the Pope. Nevertheless, a 1972 preliminary study for the U.S. bishops said: "It would seem that neither Scriptural exegesis nor theology alone can give a clear answer to this question. The ultimate answer must come from the magisterium (the bishops and Pope) While most major Protestant denominations already ordain women, the Episcopal Church, termed the "bridge" church between Protestantism and Catholicism, currently is wracked with internal struggle over the matter. As dioceses began electing delegates for next year's denominational convention to act on the issue, candidates sided pro or anti women's ordi-.

They were met at the Governor's Mansion by a representative from Sen.

Ike Skelton's office. Following this tour, the group went to the conservation building for another tour. After eating lunches inside the capitol on the steps, they were taken for a guided tour through the halls. On behalf of Senator Skelton, who was attending a funeral, Senator Wiggins Kansas City welcomed the guests and took them on a special tour of the Senate and Senate lounge. When the House convened in the afternoon, the group was seated in the visitors' gallery where they were introduced by their representative, Bob Kaye.
