C. Isenberg, the lieutenant, assisted the Girl Scouts at a "Mother and Daughter" luncheon day evening at the Scout room. A program was presented, opening with songs sung by the troop. A playlet "Which Task" by Jean Yost, Betty Cairns, Carol Jean Long, Marietta Hermes, Ruth Neu- bauer, and Elizabeth Scheffel; reading Splendid Dreams" by Ruth Boker; song, "Mother McCree" by Myrtls Ebbert, i Jean Chase, Jean Allen and Gloria Neubauer; and a reading, "The Builder" by Dixie Brands followed. The program closed with singing old time songs and "The Star Spangled Banner." Thirty-six were In attendance and refreshments were served.

Merlon (Dick) Zimmerman has made the extra lot which last year was his Victory garden, into a playground for his own and neighboring children. Lighting while candles which they carried from the large 4-H candle held In the hand of the installing officer, Miss Grace Johnston, the officers pledged themselves to the furtherance of the 4-H Club work throughout the county. The pledge, of service given by the parents was given by Mrs.

Cleatus Reynolds and J. R. Painter, who represented all 4-H Club parents, and 4-H Club leaders' pledge was given by Mrs, M. S. McCOlllSter -and Frank Kuhn- llne, representing all the county 4-H club leaders.

The ceremony closed with all 4-H Club members forming a for Victory with the newjy-elected officers at the point. Henry Carl retiring federation president, presided. Prior to the ceremony a program of music, recitations, readings, skits and plays was given by the representatives of the various agricultural and home economic clubs. Memorial for Eldred Seaman CARROLLTON, May Cadet William V. Howard, although unable to be present, was a member of the 1944 graduating class of the Carrollton High School at the graduating exercises Friday evening in the school building.

Dr. William Hudson, president, of Blackburn College, spoke on "Comfortable Living." Howard, who was a member of the class, enlisted 10 months ago In (he Army Air Corps and is now stationed at Maxwell Field, where he has completed Ills course as a navigator and Is awaiting removal to another training station, where he will study gunnery. While In training, Howard has studied at the University of Tennessee and obtained the required number of credits necessary to graduate with his class of the Carrollton High School, so his diploma will be presented with the 35 other members of the class. Aviation Cadet Howard Is a son of J. W.

Howard of Carrollton, Greene County circuit clerk, and county chairman of the Red Cross. Aviation Cadet Howard has not been granted a furlough since entering the service 10 months ago. Thirty-five poppy posters were entered In the annual contest sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary for the eighth grade students. Mrs Hlntz, Mrs. Annie Baker and Miss Ruberta French were judges of the contest. Cash prizes were presented Thursday evening to the winners, Lorene Davis, first; Bob Raymond, second, and Marcella Kepllnger, third. Mrs.

Fred Moulton, president of the Legion Auxiliary, assisted by Mrs. Harry Cornelison, made the Bridges presiding. Mrs. Neil Wat-, erbury, executive chairman of Alton Council, attended. It was decided to hold a white elephant, novelty and cake stand at the three-day picnic here in September.

Committees were named as follows: Mrs. S. Bridges and Mrs. L. Ailsworth, general arrangements; Mrs.

L. Stanton, Mrs. L. Neuhaus and Mrs. J.

Coleman, purchasing; Mrs. Lynn Clawson and Mrs. Jennie Sonrlcker, assisted by girl scouts, decoration; Mrs. Dona Dodd and Mrs. Harry Hurt, stand purchases.

Girl Scouts under Mrs. Lou Zimmermann, will solicit and be in charge of the "White Under Mrs. Polly Cook and Mrs. Ray Factor the girls will have charge of the cakes. A rental committee consisting of Mrs.

Miss Robyn Allen, R.N., daughter of Mayor and Mrs. Ernst Allen, received a commission of lieutenant In the U. S. Army Nurses Corps. She reported Thursday at Camp McCoy, WIs.

Lieut. Allen is a graduate of Meissner High School and received her nurses training at St. John's Hospital, Springfield, and Barnes Hospital, St. Louis. She has requested overseas duty.
