The records have been adjusted to reflect the forfeits. Pearl City athletic director Roy Ichinose said the player's ineligibility, which "had something to do with grades," was not discovered until recently. The school reported the violation to the OIA office Thursday night.

The Chargers have a match at 'Aiea tonight and will play host to Leilehua on Tuesday. Pearl City will finish the season without the ineligible player, Ichinose said. The Chargers, winners of five OIA titles, have been one of the most successful programs in the state. They have qualified for the state tournament 12 times since 1986. Last year, they advanced to the state semfinals, where they were eliminated by Hilo.

By Stacy Kaneshiro ApvertisR Staff Writer Defending O'ahu Interscholastic Association boys' soccer champion Pearl City has forfeited five wins and two ties for using an ineligible player, the school and the league confirmed yesterday. The Chargers, who were in second place in the OIA West with two matches left in the regular season, dropped to 0-7. The top six teams from each division advance to the OIA playoffs, so even if the Chargers win their final two matches, they would not be enough to squeeze them into the playoffs. The top six teams in the division are Mililani (8-0), Campbell (6-1-1), 'Aiea (4-1-2), Leilehua (4-3), Radford (4-3) and Wai'anae (2-3-2). Hilo won the shootout 4-3 with Kyle Hada-Hirata making the decisive shot. Hilo improved to 10-0 and the Wave Riders, who could have tied for first place with a victory, fell to 9-2. Hilo's girls beat Kealakehe 4-1, improving to 10-0. Hawai'i Prep was also unbeaten before losing 1-0 at Kealakehe (7-3) on Monday. MAUI SOFTBALL Baldwin 7, Lahainaluna 1: Alesna-Mendoro pitched a three-hitter, striking out five, and tripled in three runs to cap a five-run third inning in a Maui Interscholastic League game yesterday.

Godsick wasn't immediately available for further comment.

Dr. Richard Steadman of the Steadman-Hawkins Clinic in Vail, said the prognosis "is good for a full recovery, but the recovery will require 4-6 months of rehabilitation." Davenport was injured at the season-ending Sanex Championships in Munich, Germany, on Nov. 3. OLYMPICS High cost of hosting: The hotel tab for the IOC is $1.3 million. Salt Lake Olympic organizers will shell out another $640,050 for Olympic family perks.

Olympic ceremonies will cost $37.6 million. After all that, there's $32.8 million for sports. The Olympics have grown into an expensive extravaganza, where sporting events cost less than the pomp, pageantry and the elaborate technology, according to a budget released to The Associated Press by organizers of the 2002 Winter Games. The costs are so large, the logistics so daunting and economic payoff so meager that Salt Lake Olympic chief Mitt Romney has questioned whether U.S. cities should bother bidding for the games.

The Olympics, he has said, are driven by "giganticism" with more sports, demonstration sports and frills added every two Advertiser News Services Martina Hingis completed a Swiss sweep of the Adidas International today in Syndey, trajia, successfully defending her title with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over American Meghann Shaugh-nessy. In the men's final, Switzerland's Roger Federer beat Argentine qualifier Juan Ignacio Chela Hingis, a three-time Australian Open champion and runner-up last year, won her first WTA Tour title in 1 1 months. She recently returned to competition following an ankle injury. Federer, seeded second, also won an ATP Tour event in Milan last seasoa "I had a good week. I didn't expect to win this tournament because there was a lot of wind and I'm not a fan of that," Federer said.

"I'm very happy to start the year like this my tennis was fantastic." Americans Donald Johnson and Jared Palmer won the men's doubles, beating Australians Josh Eagle and Sandon Stolle 64, 64. The Australian Open begins Monday in Melbourne. MORE TENNIS Davenport out four months: Top-ranked Lindsay Davenport underwent arthroscopic surgery on her right knee yesterday and is expected to be sidelined for at least four months. Davenport's agent, Tony God-sick of IMG, said the surgery to years. "It's a fair question for people to ask, 'Is it worth it or not? Romney said yesterday.

"My own position is the games make sense not as a money making enterprise but as a statement for peace." FIGURE SKATING ma-Zimmerman triumph: Kyoko Ina is going back to the Olympics, and this time she's bringing John Zimmerman with her. Ina and Zimmerman, far and away the best pair in the U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Los Angeles, won their third straight national title last night with a workmanlike performance. Considering the mediocre level of competition, that was all they needed. They will be joined in Salt Lake City by Tiffany Scott and Philip Dulebohn, who both leapt with elation when they saw their marks were good enough for an Olympic spot.

It will be Ina's third trip to the Games. She was ninth in 1994 and fourth in 1998 with former partner Jason Dungjen.
