"Drew is a wonderful woman. 1 love her very much. I wish our marriage could have worked out. I wish her much happiness," Green said in a statement released by his publicist, Ann Gurrola.

Barrymore publicist Jennifer Allen said she was unaware of the divorce filing and she was unable to reach the actress. Green, 30, and Barrymore, 26, joked for months about whether they were married before tying the knot in July. At one point, they had promised to wed on television's "Saturday Night Live." The marriage was the first for Green, who starred in and directed the movie "Freddy Got Fingered" this year. It was the second for Barrymore, who most recently starred in "Riding in Cars With Boys." Second chance LOS ANGELES Self-deprecating humor seemed to suit comic Paula Poundstone, who is engineering a comeback after legal troubles landed her in jail and drug rehabilitation. She told the audience at the Rio Theatre in Santa Cruz, "If kind of strange to see this many seats not in a circle" referring to her stay at the Promises rehab facility in Malibu. Poundstone was performing for the first time since she pleaded no contest to felony child endanger-ment and a misdemeanor charge of inflicting injury upon a child. She completed court-ordered drug rehab and was placed on five years' probation.

In exchange for her plea, prosecutors dropped three counts of lewd acts upon a child. Advert NEWS Finn's CEO towriteon coping after Sept 11 Associated Press NEW YORK Howard Lutnick, chairman of the bond firm Cantor Fitzgerald, will write a book about his firm's struggle after the deaths of more than 600 employees in the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. Lutnick said he will contribute his royalties to the Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund, established Sept.

14 to provide financial assistance to the families of Cantor Fitzgerald victims. "This book will stand as a testament to my friends and partners who were lost on Sept. 11, and it will help provide financial support for their families," he said in a statement yesterday issued by HarperCollins, which will publish his book in the second half of 2002. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The book, yet to be titled, will be a collaboration between Lutnick and Thomas Barbash, a friend of Lutnick who teaches creative writing at Stanford and San Francisco State University.

Lutnick, who lost a brother, Gary, in the attacks, was initially criticized for cutting off paychecks for the dead and missing. The firm has since paid $45 million in bonuses to missing employees and has pledged to provide families with health benefits for the next 10 years. Cantor Fitzgerald, which had offices on the 101st, 103rd, 104th and 105th floors of the north tower, lost 657 of its nearly 1,000 employees in the attacks. Some stations derive encouragement from latest numbers By Wayne Harada Advertiser Entertajnment Editor KHON-2 remains the TV news ratings leader in Hawai'i, leading for its 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.

shows, according to the November sweeps. The Fox affiliate is the lone station to log double-digit ratings numbers. The surprising news from the ratings, released today, came from the numbers for 10 p.m. news shows. All four stations dropped at least one rating point since the May sweeps, and KHON dropped two.

KHNL-8, an NBC affiliate, was the only station to match its 10 p.nt news show ratings from last November, through KHNL was fourth in the four-way race. "We're all curious where the viewers went at 10 p.m.," said Bernie Armstrong, director of marketing at KGMB-9, the CBS affiliate. "(Viewers) must have tuned in to cable. The only other thing that I can comment on is how things stay the same in the business; no matter how you promote, you go up a little, then ckrwn a Utile." The up-and-down ride brought specific cheers from all camps. KHNL, though trailing in the news war, is encouraged by its growth in two specific age categories: the 18-to-49 and the 25-to-54 groups.

John Fink, KHNL general manager, characterizes the latest ratings race "as a demographics war one in which we're closing the gap." "We won't get the 55-plus," Fink acknowledged, but he said KHNL was "pleased that we're No. 2 in the other demographics." At KHON, news director Jim McCoy claimed overall victory in the ratings, saying the Fox affiliate commands all demographics. That includes an older group of loyalists to anchor Joe Moore, who has helmed the leading newscast for years. lull Copyright 2001, Gannett Pacific SUBSCRIPTIONS I NEWS To subscribe: 538-NEWS (5386397) Delivery questions: 5386397 READER SERVICES General Information: 52S8000 Toll-free (877)233-1133 Photo reprints, back Issues: 525-7620 Wedding, birth announcements: ADVERTISING Classified: 521-9111 Retail: 525-7653 Legal: 525-7420 The Honolulu QUESTIONS ABOUT COVERAGE Reader representative: 5258033 NEWS DEPARTMENTS Business: Fax: Editorial page: Island Life: Fax: Local news: Fax: Online: Photography: Sports: Fax: NEIGHBOR ISLAND Big Island: Maui: Kaua'l: "It's another win for us; we increased our lead at 6 p.m. over the last year, and while we dropped rating points at 10 p.m.

from a year ago, (KITV) Channel 4 dropped two," McCoy said "We're likely still the No. 1 Fox affiliate in the country, and have been No. 1 at 6 o'clock since 1985 and No. 1 at 10 o'clock since 1982." Moore, the state's most-watched anchor, was on vacation in Florida, but had his own take on the numbers: "I see these ratings as another victory for solid broadcast journalism over hyped sensationalism and touchy-feely 'info-tainmenf newscasts that unfortunately are becoming the norm in our profession," he said Mike Rosenberg, KITV-4 general manager and formerly Moore's boss at KHON, said that what counts, historically, is not demographics but "the way you rank, the household ratings and shares you attract." He was pleased, overall, with the showing by the ABC affiliate. Two years ago, KITV lured anchor Dan Cooke back from KHNL, where he had earlier jumped ship to launch that station's news department.

The industry buzz is that Cooke's lucrative contract, which has been under wraps, may be undergoing scrutiny and renegotiation soon, if his numbers continue to go south. "We brought Dan over, hoping that his addition would help us overtake KHON," Rosenberg said. Though his numbers have not risen significantly, Rosenberg insisted that "we're not unhappy. We're still No. 2." He said Cooke was not in jeopardy.

News ratings define the personality and worth of the cornpeting stations, said Lynne Mueller, KGMB general manager. "It's not just the anchors, if all the reporters, too," she said "In (the) wake of 911, if more so people turn to news for whaf important and what's going on, and they watch who they trust, who they deem credible." Prime-time prograrnming that leads into the late news often molds news viewership. That's why KITVs Rosenberg lamented, "ABC's prime time sucks." That why Fink is eagerly anticipating NBC's Winter Olympics coverage, starting in January. NBC will air Olympics coverage from 6:30 pm to 10 pm dairy, and the word is that other networks are not going to combat the widespread interest in the winter games. The coverage here will be tape-delayed, joining the West Coast in showing taped prograrnming instead of live.

Also, KHNL is changing its lead-in to the 5 pm newscast starting Jaa 7, when the Rosie O'Donnell Show will move to a 2 pm to 3 pm slot, making way for a daytime version of NBC's hit show, "The Weakest Link," from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
