"It's a political season, so a good time for the change," said Mike Buck, who has been an choring the morning drive sports show.

Buck said ratings have been respectable but the new station owner, Salem Communications of Los Angeles, wants to dig into the talk circuit to reflect Salem's policy in other markets, where their stations concentrate on politics, talk and Christian programming. Buck will be host of a show from 6 to 10 am, with a format shaped by headline news, local controversies, water-cooler topics. "Cayetano, anyone in politics, will be fair game," he said. John Noland, who has been a news anchor on sister station KHNR, will be co-host Throughout the day, KGU will feature local and syndicated talk shows, such as those by Oliver North and Michael Reagan. Mayor Jeremy Harris, whose "Ask the Mayor" radio show has aired on KHNR, moves to KGU on Monday, in the 5 to 6 p.m.
