Mist learned how to write with a computer keyboard by holding a stick in his mouth. He corresponded with friends, wrote children's stories and submitted letters to the editors of newspapers. Mist, a Punahou High School graduate and member of a prominent missionary family, was a vice president of Hawaii Agronomics Co. before his accident. His grandfather, Capt.

Henry Wentworth Mist was King David Kalakaua's minister Miyashiro. Memorial services 6 p.m. Saturday at Mililani Downtown Mortuary. No flowers. Casual attire.

Mist competed in surfing, canoe and swimming contests before he broke his neck in Hilo Bay in 1981.His wife, Martha, said he was training for a swim race when a wave dumped him on his head and left him with injuries that rendered him a quadriplegic. But Mist went on to write and help others, The Advertiser publishes obituaries about people of interest to our readers as a free public service.
