Mexican League Ends Its Season Abruptly Mexico City, (IP)--The Mexican baseball league, organized by Jorge Pasquel with plenty of pesos, today ended up with plenty of nothing. The official death knell of the hot tamale circuit was sounded last night by Col. Octavio Rueda Margo, league secretary, who said that mid-season departures of "a great number of players, both Mexican and foreign, placed the stability of the league in a serious predicament." "Not being able to present the worthy spectacle that the public merits, it has become necessary to end the 1948 season, as of today," the colonel said.

One league official said the circuit was losing from $9,000 to $10,000 a week recently, with a budget of only $15,000. Boy, 5, Overlooks Driver's License Boonton, N. (IP)--Five-year-old Tommy Marotta, charged with driving a motorized toy automobile without a driver's license, had a temporary reprieve from adult justice today. Young Tommy was given a ticket three weeks ago. He had a license for his tiny three-quarter horsepower car, but none for himself.

Police believed him to be the youngest traffic offender in history. Marotta had been scheduled to go on trial yesterday but his case was postponed until Monday, when he will appear in recorder's court. Remain! Gen. Curtis E. Lemay to head the nation's strategic air forces was seen today as a veiled go-slow warning to Russia. The tough, taciturn, 41-year-old airman is well known to the Russians as the guiding hand behind the fabulous airlift which for the past three months has supplied Berlin with food and fuel despite the Soviet blockade. Air force sources suggested that Lemay's promotion to command the U.
