Legion Games Headline Sports Southwestern League All-Star Game Set Sunday Outstanding players in 1 Southwestern Illinois Inter-City Baseball League includes 22 hitters who have appeared at bat 89 times or IT ore, and eight leading pitchers. The 30 leading players represent nine area teams. They will play in the Annual All-Star baseball game between Red and Blue of the League at Pocahontas on Sunday, starting at 3:30 p.m. Through the courtesy of the it. Louis Cardinals Baseball Club, a major league fielder's glove and a dozen baseballs autographed by Cardinal players will be given away at the game.

In case of rain, the game will be played at night on Wednesday, July 8, at Fletcher Field, Woodland Park, Collinsville, beginning at 8 p.m., league officials announced. In other local area sports activities for the weekend, the Edwardsville Gun Club will stage its annual July 4th handicap trap shoot; Sunset Hills Country Club will play host to its annual Flag Tourney with all members eligible to participate (Monday it has scheduled its' annual Mr. and Mrs. handicap golf event for holes); the Southwestern Illinois Inter-City Baseball All-Star game will be played Sunday at Pocahontas.

For those who like water sports and more colorful attractions, a water and fireworks show is set on the Mississippi River and St. Louis riverfront Saturday, from 5 to 10 p.m. A special viewing area has also been cleared on the East St. Louis side of the river. Fruit's Diving Tops Sunset Practice Meet Chuck Fruit turned in a superior diving performance for Sunset Hills Country Club swimming team last night in a practice meet with' Summersport Swim Club of Alton, but the experienced Alton team proved superior in over-all practice competition.

Toby Mussman, swim coach at the local country club, said purpose of the meet in Alton last night was to get the local swimmers used to competition and to indicate their potential. Specific scores were kept, but no attempt was made to total the Informal tallies to decide a meet winner, said a country club authority this morning.
