Page B3 Verna I. Schilling, 85 Verna Irene Schilling, 85, of Greenfield, died at 12:08 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31, 2009, at Hancock Regional Hospital, Greenfield. She was born Aug.
24, 1924, in Lafayette, to Schilling the late Charles and Ethel Cain Wolf. She graduated from Attica High School In November 1947, she married Harold V. Schilling in Lafayette; he died Sept 16, 1988. Mrs. Schilling worked for Switches Inc.
in Logansport before retiring. Surviving are a daughter, Patricia L. Schilling of Greenfield; a son, Kenneth H. Schilling (wife: Dorothy) of Indianapolis; and a sister, Edith Sipple (husband: James) of Lafayette. There will be no services.

Born Feb.
24, 1940, in Lafayette, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Willa Stone Yost Fulks. She graduated from Jefferson High School. On Oct 24, 1957, she married John Yost in Lafayette, and he survives. Mrs. Yost managed JoAnn Fabrics from 1971 until 1974 and was a self-employed seamstress in Lafayette.
From 1974 until 1982 she volunteered her time and service making costumes for the Jefferson High School music department She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, crafting, reading, puzzles and playing Nintendo DS. Surviving with her husband are a son, J. Randall Yost (wife: Maxine) of Detroit; three daughters, Jackie Eadie (husband: Troy) of Advance, and Jennifer Yost-Vandergraff and Brandi Bass (husband: Brandon), both of Lafayette; two brothers, Bob Pruitt and Fred Fulks, both of Lafayette; and a sister, Camilla Fulks of Lafayette. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren Aaron, Sam and Nicole Yost, Devon and Hayley Eadie and Joe Van-dergraff. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Benjamin and Cecil Fulks.

Those wishing may contribute to a charity of choice. Leave condolences at www.soller-baker.com John A. Brown, 80 OXFORD John A. "Jack" Brown, 80, formerly of Oxford, died Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, at his residence in Bullhead City, Ariz.
Born May 14, 1929, his parents were John G. and Fannie Brown. He attended Oxford High School, and served in the Army from 1947 to 1951. After the Army, Mr. Brown settled in California and became a journeyman glazier, designing and assembling custom leaded glass creations.
His first wife, Nancy, preceded him in death. Surviving are his wife, Joyce; a daughter, Stacy Virgili of California; two sisters, Jean Gick of West Lafayette and Marie Weaver of California; and a brother, Ed Brown of Texas. Lois Lois Boyce, 76, of Lafayette, died at 12:27 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, at Rosewalk Village.

Main Flora, died at 2:47 p.m. Mon day, Aug. 31, 2009, at his residence. Born Sept. 25, 1949, in Sugarland, Texas, he was the son of Norma McDonald VanLoon VanLoon of Gaston and the late Kenneth O.
VanLoon. He had been in the Army Reserves. He graduated from Ball State University in 1971. On March 3, 1973, he married Kathie Andrews in Savanna, 111., and she survives. Mr.
VanLoon was a teacher at Flora and CarrolL schools for 38 years. Over the years he taught industrial arts, health and physical education, technology and drafting classes. He had coached junior high football and basketball. At the high school he had been the defensive coach for the football team and had coached baseball. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan.
Surviving with his wife and mother are a son, Jero-my VanLoon of Los Angeles; and a brother, Rick VanLoon (wife: Jane) of Gaston. Also surviving is a nephew, Aaron VanLoon (wife: Cathy) of New Albany. Services 10 a.m. Friday at Reinke Funeral Home, with visitation 4-8 p.m. Thursday evening, also at the funeral home.
Charles D. Weesner, 72 Charles Duane Weesner, 72, of rural Portland, died Monday afternoon, Aug. 31, 2009, at his residence. Born Aug. 19, 1937, in Jay County, he was the son of Gerald and Bernice Long Weesner.
On Sept. 8, 1957, he married Frances Rines, who survives. Mr. Weesner was a farmer and school bus driver, and had also been a mechanic-for Sheffer-Weinland in Portland. He was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church, served on the Jay County Fair Board, Wayne Township Advisory Board and was a 4-H leader.
Surviving with his wife are a son, Gary Weesner of Lafayette; two daughters, Beth Stephens (husband: Jeff) and Nancy Snyder (husband: Jeff), both of Portland; a brother, John Weesner of Frankfort; and a sister, Eunice White (husband: Russell) of Portland. Services Saturday in Portland. 1 Brooke and Travis Shaffer, Logansport, a daughter, Madyson Leigh Warren W. Ardapple, 87, of Lafayette, died at 9:05 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31, 2009, at St. Anthony Health Care.
He was born Sept. 2, 1921, in Lafayette, to the late Walter and Dorothy Irving Ardapple. He graduated from Jefferson High School and Indiana University, receiving a bachelor of science degree. In 1943, he married Har-riette A. "Betty" Williams.
She survives and resides in Lafayette. Mr. Ardapple was owner and president of Ardapple Moving Storage in Lafayette until his retirement in 1980. He enjoyed the outdoors and golf. He was the city golf champion in 1952 and 1954 and competed in the Indiana State Amateur and pro-am tournaments.
He served on the board of the Western Golf Association from 1974 to 1980 and won its annual tournament during his tenure as director. Surviving with his wife are a son, David W. Ardapple, and two daughters, Gretchen Reiling (husband: Bob), and Jessica B. Ardapple, all of Lafayette; and a sister, Katherine J. Doherty of Phoenix.
Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, Anne Kilby of Tampa, Amy' Sani of Trento, Italy, Andrew Ardapple of Lafayette, and Alexandria Ardapple of Stoughton, and 5 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel.

com to view Barbara's full obituary. Anna Pauline Bess, 93, of West Lafayette, died at 6:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 31, 2009, at Indiana Veterans' Home. She formerly lived in Fairhaven, Ohio, and had been a resident of Lafayette since 1972.
She was born March 1, 1916, in Richmond, to the late Orville and Frances Collins Miller. In September 1936, she married Herschel Bess in Richmond, and he preceded her in death in February 1972. Mrs. Bess attended Salem Friends Meeting in Liberty. Surviving is a daughter, Sue Goetz of Lafayette.
Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 7 greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Margie Ann Beavers; a sister, Beverly Dimlich; a brother, Maxwell Miller; and 2 grandchildren, Timothy and Brenda Beavers. He was Davis born APril 30, 1954, in Danville, 111., to Donald A. Davis Sr. (wife: Edith) of Covington and Marion Davis of Danville. He was a 1972 graduate of Covington High School and attended the University of Tampa. Mr.
Davis was a farmer and co-owner of Davis Farms near Covington. He had resided in Naples for the past 11 years. On Aug. 25, 1977, he married Anna Barker; they divorced. Surviving with his parents are two sons, Eric Davis (wife: Misty) of Covington and Brad Davis (companion: Kristen Roseberry) of Fort Lauderdale, his companion of 10 years, Mary Scott of Naples; and a brother, Donald A.

Dix, 71, of Lafayette, died at 7:45 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009, at her residence. Born Dec. 1, 1937, in Lafayette, she was the daughter of the late Virgil and Philemena Killian Bridwell.
She graduated from Clarks Hill High School. Her marriage was to Beauford Dix; he died April 30, 2000. Mrs. Dix was a secretary for the Lafayette School Corp. Surviving are a daughter, Roberta Roudebush (husband: Robin), and a son, Robert Dix, both of Lafayette.

30, 2009, at Village of Avon in Cobblestone Assisted Living. Born June 3, 1918, in Atlanta, he was the son of the late Leland Stanford and Violet E. McCarty Gunning. He graduated from Tipton High School in 1936 and attended Western Michigan University. On Aug.
31, 1940, he married Josa Angeline Cash, and she preceded him in death Jan. 25, 2006. Mr. Gunning retired in the early '80s from Ross Gear in the TRW Ross Gear Division. He was a member of Dayton United Methodist Church, and was a former member of the Scottish Rite, Indianapolis, and Rose Croix Masonic Lodge 704.
Surviving are a son, Don Stanley Gunning of Browns-burg; two daughters, Karen Ann Slater (husband: Patrick) of Austin, Texas, and Lonna Beth Stucker (husband: Larry) of Lafayette; and a sister, Barbaralee Tre-nary of Forest. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, Thea Johnson, Jennifer Duley, Matt Gunning, Paul Hart, Craig Stucker, Jennifer Stucker and Brian Slater; and 7 great-grandchildren. Ringer Larson, 75, of Williamsport, died sud denly in her residence at 8:12 p.m. 31,2009. Born Dec. 20, 1933, in Lafayette, she was the daughter of Larson the late Alfred V. and Dorothy "Dotty" E.
Slabaugh Ringer. She grew up in Warren County. She was a 1951 graduate of Williamsport High School and a 1955 Indiana University graduate with a bachelor of science degree. From 1955 to 1966, she worked for several universities in food services as a dietitian, including Stanford, Hawaii and Indiana. She moved to Attica in 1966, and from then until 1974 she worked for the Fountain Warren County Health Department.
She worked for the VA from 1974 to 1994 as a dietitian. During that time she also worked part-time for Williamsport Community Hospital as a dietitian until 1984. She moved back to Williamsport in 1984. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, Bingy Babes, numerous bridge Barbara J. Boots, 86 Barbara Jean Loveless Boots, 86, of Fort Collins, died Sunday, Aug.
30, 2009, at Spring Creek Healthcare Center, after a long illness. Born in Clarks Hill, she was the daughter of Jay and mat.
