Jacobsen will address the student body at the Santa Rosa High School Monday afternoon.

The young traveler will speak in Petaluma tonight, at Sebasto-pol Tuesday evening and in Healdsburg Wednesday night. Jacobsen will talk on Norway's fight against Nazidom and describe his two daring attempts to escape from German prisons, even fracturing his own arm to gain admittance to a hospital in one bold plot. Young Jacobsen is presented here by the Sonoma County Council of Defense through the aid of the state council. The meeting is free to the public. IllipSu Fully realizing the necessity of trained personnel in time of disaster, an attractive French woman, fresh from the horrors of war-torn Europe, yesterday requested an opportunity to train under the American Red Cross Nurses' Aide program at the Sonoma County Hospital and the junior college.

She is Mrs. Else Cassin, whose husband was in the French army when the republic fell before the Nazi onslaught, and has never been contacted by his wife since. She escaped to England where, she says, "I read quite a bit about the work of the nurses' aides and what a wonderful help they proved to be. Realize Necessity "When you have been in situations where you could have helped if you had only known how," said Mrs. Cassin, "you realize the necessity of having trained personnel in case of emergency.

"I hope it will never be necessary here, but I am so happy to feel that now I can be of real service to my adoptive country," she commented when told she would be admitted to the class. "I hope many women will realize what this interesting and valuable training will mean to them." The Red Cross has announced the next training course for nurses' aides to begin February Headed by Grand Knight Frank J. McHugh and Secretary Walter Pisenti, a delegation of local Knights of Columbus will participate in exemplification of the fourth degree, highest of the order, upon a class of 200 candidates next Sunday afternoon in the Palace hotel, San Francisco. The class will Include third-degree knights from the entire state and many servicemen. Ceremonies will be staged in the hotel's Gold ballroom under the direction of Thomas F.

Duffy, northern California master, and' his St. Francis assembly, fourth degree, Knights of Columbus. Distinguished Catholic laymen will lead various phases of the degree. To Fly Here Supreme Knight Francis P. Matthews, international head of the society, will arrive by plane from New Haven, to take part in the ceremonial and speak at a banquet to follow.

Candidates for the fourth degree will report to Henry F. Kalvelage, secretary, in the hotel and following exemplification they will march to St. Patrick's church for benediction. Wives and friends of the fourth-degree knights have been invited to the formal banquet and reception to follow the ceremonies. Lieutenant General John L.

De-Witt of U. S. Army, Rear Admiral John W. Greenslade, Navy, and Major General William Upshur of the U. S.

Marine Corps will attend. William T. Sweigert, executive secretary to Governor Earl Warren, will deliver the principal address. and Mrs. Lee B. Williams of Potter Valley, has been listed as "missing in action" in the South Pacific. A telegram from the navy de partment brought this message to the young officer's family this week. Ensign Williams was grad uated from the Annapolis Navel Academy with the class of 1942 and was assigned to duty soon after.

CINCINNATI, Feb. 13 (UP) Search for five federal prisoners who effected an ingenious escape from Hamilton county jail last night by plugging up the plumbing spread to the bordering states of Indiana and Kentucky and north to Dayton, today. Bureau of Prisons, ordered an investigation of the jail break and indicated the jail might be removed from the list of federally approved prisons. Flexible Limit on Auto Speed Urged WASHINGTON. Feb. 13 (AP) Joseph B. Eastman, director of defense transportation, today urged state legislatures to adopt flexible speed limits rather than a risrid 35-mile-an-hour standard Eastman said that while 35 miles an -hour is now the recommended limit for cars and trucks, It was desirable to authorize governors or other state officials "to change the speed limit, if this ac tion should be found necessary at anv time." An ODT spokesman explained that it might become desirable to allow certain carriers of war ma terials ta maintain faster sched ules in some sections and that there might be need for reducing the speed limit for private cars and other similar vehicles.

Bulgarian Minister Said Assassinated LONDON, Sunday, Feb. 14 (AP) The Berlin, radio announced today that Gen. Christo Loukoff, Bulgarian minister of war from 1935 to 1938, in the Kosseivanoff cabinet, was assassinated at 9 p.m. Saturday. The general was attacked in front of his house by several men, the radio report added.

Geared to the war effort, the college will introduce a new course entitled ''Home Problems in Wartime," designed through laboratory, discussion and demonstrations to help solve problems arising from substitutions of food materials arising from rationing. Marketing and other consumer problems in garment fitting, child care and spring food preservation will also be taken up under this course.

Another outstanding practice to be adopted this term is the training of students expecially to pass United States civil service examinations for positions in commercial branches. Report to College Registration will continue through the two days, February 15 and 16, Daniels said, and entering students are expected to report at the college during this time. Returning students must also register during this period. Any high school graduate, 18 or more years of age and bearing a transcript of their high school record is eligible. During the registration students will have the opportunity to discuss their individual problems with instructors who will aid them to choose their most congenial field.

Also in line with the war effort is the opportunity for 17-year-old youths, prospective high school graduates, to learn details of enlisted reserve programs of the army, navy and marine corps. Urge Investigation "The advantages of attending junior college for even one semester should be investigated by all boys who anticipate draft within a short period," Daniels reminded. "Girls, too, will want to investigate possibilities in service of the WAVES, WAACS and SPARS." "The war offers unlimited opportunity for service to one country, even in civilian life. Young women, particularly, may choose between the shipyards and other war industries, or they may take commercial training to become, a student nurse in the Sonoma County College of Nursing which is conducted jointly by the college and the County Hospital. Commercial and nursing training will lead directly to war work that will remain valuable after the war.

"Sttudents who enter the commercial department during the course of a semester, or students who need brushing up enter a special co-ordinating course where deficiencies are eliminated enabling them to enter regular classes which lead eventually to civil service positions.
