O-O Black resigns gay Marine Reservist Named Recruiting Officer for City Appointment of First Lieutenant John W. Burkard, USMCR, of 726 Lewis road, Santa Rosa, as a volunteer marine corps recruiting officer for Santa Rosa, was announced yesterday by the 12th Marine Reserve District, A graduate of Santa Rosa High School in 1939, Lt. Burkard was commissioned in the marine corps reserve in February, 1942, and served with the amphibious re-connaisance battalion at Saipan, Tinian, and Okinawa, winning a letter of commendation. According to the announcement, Lt. Burkard has been authorized to effect enrollments and administer enlistment oaths for the volunteer marine corps reserve to men between the ages of 17 and 32 years.

Veterans of all services who were discharged under honorable conditions, are also eligible for the reserve without physical examinations.
