State Needs Trained Nurses A'continou examine process for graduate nurses has been developed in the State civil service program. There is an urgent need for nurses In state hospitals, according to Dr. F. O. Butler, superintendent of the Sonoma State Home.

At this time there are two vacancies at the home. A graduate nurse may report to the Home, fill out an application, take a simplified test, and be employed within a week. Dr. Butler said. The program is now under way in 14 State Institutions and in offices of the State Personnel Board throughout California.

Employment under this streamlined program for nurses eliminates all possible and gives full civil service advantages, in addition to a beginning monthly salary of $200 for a 40-hour week. Nurses are entitled to annual merit increases in salary, three week's paid vacation a year, and sick leave and retirement benefits. Here's how that compares with other districts: first district, second district, fourth district, fifth district, But Thae Not All! In 'addition to the LARGEST allocation for road improvements from county funds, Supervisor Cullen also obtained, $155,000 MORE in road work for his district under the joint county-state aid road building program a LARGER state aid than obtained by any other district in the county. As a result of wisely choosing road projects 'quail- fying for state aid on a matching basis, CULLEN obtained the additional $155,000 in road work at a cost to the county of only $77,500 stretching the taxpayer's dollar twice as far! THAT'S GOOD BUSINESS MANAGEMENT OF OUR DISTRICTS AFFAIRS! The taxpayer's, dollar HAS to be stretched on Sonoma county roads, because of our exceptionally "large county road mileage.

43 of California's 48 counties have LESS county road mileage than Sonoma county's total of 1,297 miles. Here's how some nearby counties compare: Marin, 397 miles. Napa, 399 miles; Lake, 491 miles; San Mateo, 425 miles, Hilly terrain and need for numerous bridges also makes high way construction more costly in Sonoma county than in many counties, adding to the problems of our supervisors In making each taxpayer's dollar do the most good In road work. LETS KEEP THE MAN WHO HAS BEEN DOING A GOOD JOB FOR US! For SOUND SENSE In county government administration, for the best interest of ALL the third district, for long-range constructive thinking rather than mer political expediency in road development, let's Keep CULLEN For Supervisor, Third District Primary Election, June 1 (This message prepared by businessmen and taxpayer! appreciating the sound way. Supervisor Lloyd Cullen has served his district and the county) with power turned way down.
