Auto Turns Over Three Times During Races at Jacksonville. Speeding around the new half mils dirt track in -a Dodge special racing automobile, at a speed estimated at 70 miles an hour at Jacksonville. Elon Robley of White Hall, and his mechanic had a narrow escape from death Sunday afternoon when Robley's car turned over three times after striking some boards from the fence that had been thrown on the track when George Undercuffler of Carlinville, struck the fence. Robley suffered a broken right arm and bruises about body, while his mechanic was bruised about the head. The accident occurred during the first race of the day, a ten mile race in which sis automobiles entered.

Robley was leading the field- and was near a lap ahead of Undercuffler who was driving a Sttutz special. Suddenly the Stutz darted toward the fence, tearing out several lengths of boards and throwing them onto the track. Undercuffler succeeded in getting his car back on the track, but Robley's car, following ths Stutz, struck the boards, swerved sharply to the left and entered the oval, where it turned over three times. Robley and his mechanic were rushed to the office of Dr. H.

Chapin, where X-ray pictures were taken. The two injured men were later removed to the office of Dr. W. p. Duncan, where their wounds were treated.

Their condition is not thought to be serious. The three races were won by Leon Crabtree of Paris, driving a Chevrolet special. The time for DEFEAT BUCKEYE MALTS STAUNTON SUNDAY. Hudicum, of California, was ready to make a chemical analysis of blood taken from the baby, from his own body and from the reins of Harry Poulm who Tierinan declared was the father. Preliminary hearing of the case against Poulm was postponed until September 14 by agreement of both sides.

Tiernan declared today that ha had further evidence to offer to show that Poulin had been intimate with other South Bend women. The professor stated that if moral character was involved at the trial he would disclose other conquests of Poulm, of which, he alleged, he boasted to Mrs Tiernan. The busses making the trip between Alton and Edwardsville are making it 5 minutes ahead of tie old time, in spite of the fact that a detour is necessary due to the Alton Road being torn up. This gain in time Is possible on account of a better road travelled also, it is not necessary to make the number of stops they made before while taking the old route.
