Christian Science services are conducted at the Masonic Temple Sunday school will begin at 9:30 a. m. followed by morning services at 11 Wednesday evening meetings beginning at 8, include testimonials The reading rooms will be open on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons between 12:30 arid 4:30 o'clock.

"Soul" was the subject of the Lesson-Sermon in all Churches of Christ, Scientist, on Sunday, February 16. The Golden Text was, "Unto thee, Lord, do I lift up my soul. Shew ine thy ways, Loid; teach me thy paths" (Psalms 25-1, 4). Among the citations which comprised the Lesson-Sermon was the following from the Bible: "Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and Baying, Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shall love the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, and all thy mlud. This is the first and great commandment.

And the second is like unto tt, Thou shall love thy neighbor as thyself" (Matthew 22 35-38). The Lesson-Sermon also included the following passages from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Sciiptures," by Mary Baker Eddy: "Dost thou 'love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind'? This command includes much, even tha surrender of all merely material spusation, affection, and worship This Is tho El Dorado of Christianity" (p. 9). Inimanuel Church, Sunday school will be held at 9:15 a m. with morning worship at 10:30 o'clock.

Rev. F. C. Stelzilede -Will speak on "The Beast Today." Due to the coal situation there will be no evening services. All meetings scheduled during the week either been postponed or will be held at the parsonage.

The Sunday evening meeting of the Epworth League will be held in the parsonage at 6 15 p. m. The Standard Bearers also meet at the parsonage on Tuesday night. On Monday evening at 6:30 o'clock the banquet of the Alton Croup Midyear Epworth League Institute will be held at the church. Eden Evangelical.

Sunday school will begin at nine o'clock and all departments will study the words of Jesus "Ye Cannot Seive Two Masters." Services of worship at ten o'clock Rev. H. J. Bredehoeft will deliver his message on the topic: "Where are You to be Found? or Where do You Live?" Meetings next week Include Mon- day evening the men's chorus will meet at 7:30 o'clock. Tuesday evening the first of a Lenten series will be preached.

Joseph Sandrin, 67, operator of a service station at Livingston, died on Thursday afternoon at 3:30 at St. Francis Hospital In Lltchfleld from pneumonia. Funeral services wero held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the late residence In Livingston. In- teiment will be made In the Spangle cemetery near this city. Phllatheas Meet.

The February meeting of the Mo ther's Study Club was held Thursday at the home of Mrs. Harold Rogers on Madison Ave. Officers were elected as follows: Mrs. Frank Hill, president, Mrs. J.

Subject for discussion was "American Citizenship." Roll call was answered with the names of famous Americans. Madison High Wins. Madison high school basketball team defeated Wood River high 43 to 33 last Tuesday night, making them nine wins and two defeats. They now lead the Madison-St. Clair league by two more games won than Granite City, their nearest rival with seven.

Madison has one more conference game to play while Granity City has three more conference games to play, with St. Louis on Friday night. Manse Burns. The Presbyterian manse, 16 a 9 Third Street, occupied by Dr. H.

M. Thomas and family was nearly destroyed by fire last Saturday when a blaze was discovered in the attic. Damage was $660 which was covered by insurance. Club Gave Card Party. The Mlnewa Reading Club gave their annual card party and dance at Firemen's Hall Thursday evening.

Proceeds will be donated to the children who need glasses in school This Is an annual event for the ladies. Couple Married. Miss Mary Votonpal and Joe Dusek were united in marriage at St. Johns' Church In St. Louis last Saturday afteinoon.
