SPORTS MADISON DHFKATS TIOBItS HKIU-; JJY SC'ORK OK 27-21 Madison High defeated the Edwardsville Tigers at the High School Gym last night by a score of 27-21. The game was featured by the fast breaking attacks of both teams which resulted In many shots being made from under tho basket. The Bengals jumped Into the lead early In the first quarter when R. Tenor broke through the Madison defense for a close-in shot. They increased their lead to 5-2 and as the quarter ended Edwardsville held an 8-1 lead.

Madison penetrated the Bengal defense somewhat better in the second quarter and by half time they managed to draw abreast Edwardsvllle at 12-all. The third period proved costly to the Tigers as Madison rolled up 10 points while Kdwardsvlllc could muster but four. The score at the end of this period was 22-16 in favor of Madison. Each team added 5 points to total In the la.st period and Madinon came out of the tussle on the long end of a 27-21 count. The defeat will not prove as costly to Edwradsvllle us the losa of Joe McLean who was playing In his last game for the season since he has just completed his eight semesters In High School.

Concrete construction was to have been used according to Madison officials in the construction contract, awarded to the Tri-City Paving Company, of which C. A. Lybargcr is an official. A concrete base corereil by asphalt is the material which the thecoutractiug concern used.

The Tri- City Company was awarded the contract by the Madison Board of Local Improvements of which S. A. Blolsch of Edwardsvllle Is attorney.
