Henry Trione, 1658 Finlaw have invited 30 guests to call for egg nogs Saturday from 7 o'clock on. THE BRIDGE Section of the American Association of Uni Blanks Are Hosts At Dinner Party SONOMA Christmas carols' had a special significance as an invocation of peace throughout a tortured world when they were sung by 25 guests at a pre-Christmas dinner party at the Mission Highlands home of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Blank Saturday night. Guests of honor were 3 young students from International House at Berkeley and one from Stanford.

They are all majoring in subjects of importance not only to their own countries, but to the world at large. Krisna Tartanon of Thai is majoring in chemistry, Cely Ordonez of the Philippine Republic, public health; Rafi Youneszi, Afghanistan, in agriculture and Turgut Koyouncuoglo of Turkey, food research. Mrs. Blank sang "The Storke," an old Welsh carol taken from a 16th century Bible. By SUSAN MACK Christmas is hurrying toward" us and we are hurrying toward Christmas.

Don't let us make it a burden. The other day a young man asked me if it would be all righfc for him to give his best girl friend a "nice'' present. I over that one. Then I thought of both the yes-and-no sides to the problem. He knew, of course, that it has never been considered correct for young people who are not engaged to exchange expensive gifts.

But we both admitted that recently girls have accepted more than flowers and small gifts, especially if the young man can well afford to buy them for her. An expensive gift may not necessarily mean that he thinks more of her than of other girls, but it signifies a wish to do pleasant things for her. If a girl accepts an expensive gift she is not compelled to give an equally expensive one in return. That would ruin the spirit of Christmas. She must think of her own pocket-book and not be hampered when she gives up what she spends.

CHRISTMAS is a symbol of love, and everything we do should be done in that spirit. We remember our parents and remember how happy and beau tiful they made our CUristmases. If there is any self-sacrificing to be done, it should be done for them in a spirit of love and devotion. It seems to me that young people should treat each other at Christmas time, not too emotionally, but logically. And of course that goes for everyone! I hope I've helped my readers, as well as myself, to think out this problem happily.

Most of all, Christmas should be a happy season, not a burdensome one. Here is one of my poems about love and the Christmas spirit. GREAT GIFTS The Magi came that starry night Bearing gifts for Him; Treasures from far lands they laid In that stable dim. The gold of Ophir glittered there. Frankincense was astir; And from Arabian borders came Sweet aromatic myrrh.

It was a gift of worship, too, The Magi brought that day But, oh, far greater was the gift Of Love they bore away. Youth. And now let's have one in a light vein: DECEMBER NIGHT The cold sun weakened, sinking down to rest With scant display of color in the West. Then, from the tule beds Northeast of town, There rose a mist as soft as eiderdown. It moved like gentle tumbling, rolling hoops Across the fields until its playful loops Enveloped "streets and trees, en- gulfing all Before it in a ghostly, silver shawl.

It played a hide-and-seek from lawn to lawn And romped with impish merriment till dawn. A timid street ran up the hill and hid, Then peeked to see what naughty Main Street did, Trees laughed and wept till they were "fit to tie," And dripped their tears upon passers-by, Mrs. Hans Nissen Elected Noble Grand PETALUMA Petaluma Re-bekah Lodge 226 has elected Mrs. Hans Nissen noble grand.
