F. Merry and his party of Northern visitors arrived in their special car, by the 4 o'clock train of this morning. The party consists of the following persons: Captain .1. F. Merry and wife, Manchester, Iowa; Mr.

and Mrs. L. S. Merchant, Cedar ltaphls, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs.

J. V. Rider, Dubuque, Iowa; Mis. L. J.

Haskell, Manchester, Iowa; Miss Grace Haskell, Manchester, Iowa. The above party are taking their present trip partly for pleasure and partly for business. Mr. L. S.

Merchant, of the party, is gathering data for a book to be issued soon and distributed at the World's Fair and throughout the North, entitled the Ten Bust States Iu America, Traversed by the Illinis Central railroad. will, of course be one of the ten States, and Natchez will be among the towns noticed in the book. The book will be devoted to the attractions, resources and possibilities of the States mentioned, and will be a great advertiser. Merry and his party will remain here till seven o'clock to-morrow morning, and he will meet our ci' i.ens at the Cotton Merchants' Exchange at half pa-t seven o'clock this evening. Notice will be found elsew'ierc f.T a meeting of the Young Men's Business League at the above time ami place, and also urging the public generally, to attend the meeting.

We hope the meeting will be largely attended, as a good talk from such a wide-awake gentleman as Capt Merry, who has the intens'p ol our city at heart, will do much in our coninnnlty. The "Pulse of New York" made a fair Impression on the audience who witnessed it at the Opera House last evening, though the troupe could not he pronounced auong the best that visit Natchez. Miss Mallie Vick-ers is a popular actress, and lost nothing of her good reputation last evening, while the support was fair. The play was witnessed by a good house.
