ST. JACOB RAMON W. GAFFNER, Correspondent Busy Workers Club. The first meeting of the Busy Workers 4-H Club was held at the home ot the leader, Mrs. Beatrice Ellis to elect officers.

The projects are butter cakes and clothing. Six of the girls are carrying two projects. Those holding office art Betty Raeber, president; Ellen Ellis, vice-president; Marion Meyer, secretary; Shirley Church, reporter; Mae Homann, recreation chairman. Other girls belonging to the club are Arlene Nagel, Lola Henss, Eva Homann, Beverly Church, Elvina Meyer, -Marie Cleora Noll. Raeber and Surprise Party.

Last Saturday evening a surprise party was given for Mr. and Mrs. James Pike in honor of their twenty' fifth wedding anniversary. Those present were Mr. and Mrs.

George Seany and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. R. Johns and sons and Mr. and Mrs.

John Miller. Refreshments were served and many nice gifts were received. Unit Meets. The major lesson at the meeting oi the St. Jacob Home Bureau held at the Community Hall on Friday, May 19 was "What Women Should Know About Legal Papers," and the minor lesson was, "Better English." These were presented by Mrs.

R. John and Mrs. J. E. Miller respectively.

Meri Sapp of Dusky, Ohio, spent Sunday at the home of Harry Sapp, Sr. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Widman, Miss Dorothy Blumer of St. Jacob spent unday with Fred Blumer and fam y.

On Sunday those present at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Pike were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pike, Mr.

and Mrs. L. P. Daniel and daughter, Olive, Miss Minnie Thalman, Mr. and Mrs.

M. Rudat was the centerpiece of the table decorations included an assortment of flowers. Mrs. Dohm was assisted in serving by Mrs. John linger and Miss Leona Henke.

Rev. L. Rauch, her father, and pastor of the Evangelical church at Plum Hill gave a congratulatory message in German and Rev. L. Krekeler of Gillespie, uncle of Mrs.

Dohm spoke in English including an original poem written in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Dohm. Guests included their three children, Armin and Robert Pchm and Mr. and Mrs.

Folkerts and daughter Nyla Jean of Mt. Olive, also an attendant Dr. Edwin Krekeler of Gillespie; and two of the flower girls now Mrs. Herbert Herbeck and Mrs. Rolla Jones, Centralia.

Mrs'. Glen Phillips entertained her card club at her home on Friday afternoon. Mrs. Otto Dittes and Mrs. Joseph Klunk were awarded prizes and the 100 ace award was presented to Mrs.

Schoeck of Alton. The former conducted services at the Baptist church. Neighbor Lodge held regular meeting at the lodge hall. After the meeting a luncheon was served and a social time ivas enjoyed. Dance at City Park.
