and Cora (flicker) Metz. He was the husband of Helen Schefler, who preceded him in death Ian. 16, 1998. They were married March 24,1940 in Kokomo. He was an employee at Haynes International until his retirement.

Surviving are a brother, Oscar F. Metz, Burlington; a niece, Janet Shipley, Kokomo; and three nephews, Jeff and Jim Dye, and Gary Schefler, all of Denver. Preceding him in death were his parents and wife. Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, 2097 Alto Road.

The Rev. Harold Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Essie Ward Essie Ward, 73,1008 W. Taylor died at 10:15 p.m. Sunday, April 11,1999, at her home. Born March 13, 1926, in Liberty, was the daughter of Lora (Coffey) and Alonzo Wall. was the wife of Edward tWard, who her in i-death March 1986.

They were married "Dec. 12, 1947, "in Kokomo. Ward She was a ihomemaker. She attended New Covenant Christian Center. She was an avid bingo player.

She loved her family and grandchildren. Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Levi Clark, and Sue and Jerry Smith, all of Kokomo, and Joyce and Junior Melton, Goldsmith; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Lawrence Virginia Wall, ElwoptLand Wall, Kokomo; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Mary and Bob Stahlnaker, Dorothy Tedder, and Dessie Bowley, all of Kokomo; a sister-in-law, Betty Wall, Kokomo; nine grandchildren, Michael Clark, Laura Clark, April Clark, James Clark, Stacy Smith, Derek Smith, Beth Melton, Jesse Melton, and Jake Melton; and four great- grandchildren, Tabatha Clark, Malachi Clark, Tierney Clark, and Riley Gunning. Preceding her in death were two brothers, Lewis Wall and Robert Wall, a grandson, Brian Melton, and a sister. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at fillers Mortuary, Main Street Chapel, 725 S.

Richard Myers Richard E. Myers, 72, 1031 E. 169th SI, Westfield, died at 7:37 p.m. Sunday, April 11, 1999, at Riverview Hospital, Noblesville. Born Aug.

26, 1926, in Bunker Hill, he was the son of Ernest and Thelma (Deardorff) Myers. He was the husband of Anna W. Enders, who survives. He was a Roadway Express truck driver for 30 years before retiring. He was a member of the US.

Navy, serving during World War II. Surviving are five sons, Richard E. Myers Paul G. Myers, Ernest Eric James six daughters, Elaine Roberts, Stephany A. Baliff, Laura A.

Hieronymus, Sara L. Darts, Susan M. Myers, Anna L. Shepard; a brother, Clayton Myers; 31 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m.

"Bill" Heady, 82, Alexandria, died at 1:20 a.m. Saturday, April 10,1999, at The Willows, 1817 Park Alexandria. Born Nov. 9,1916, in Kokomo, he was the son of Donald and Eva Long Heady. He was the husband of Vera Atwood, who preceded him in death.

They were married Nov. 25,1933. He retired from Chrysler Corp. in Kokomo in 1980. He was a veteran of the US.

Army, serving during World War II. Surviving are one daughter and her husband, Pat and Don Slaton, New Port Richey, five sons and their wives, Bill and Joyce Heady, Kokomo, Bob and Doniece Heady, Carmel, Tom and Arlene Heady, Alexandria, George and Nancy Heady, Elwood, and Fred and Marcell Heady, Warsaw; a sister and her husband, Mary Coiner and Ed Gall, Elwood; three half-sisters, Opal Rich, California, Dorothy McMahan, Anderson, and Irene and Robert Norgan, Frankton; a half-brother, George Long, Lake Placid, 19 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 32 great- grandchildren; one stepgreat- grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were a son, Don Heady and a half-sister, Clara Parrish. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Copher Fesler Funeral Home, 415 S.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Free Will Baptist Church, Bunker Hill. Surviving are three sons, Marvin Dencel, and Mark Dencel, both of Kokomo, and Ronald Dencel, fc Miami; two daughters, Eliz- Hattabaugh Hospital March 9, 1932, in Kokomo, she was the daughter of Albert and Dorothy (Eads) Watson, She was the wife of Mychajlo S. Puszko, who preceded her in death Oct. 28, 1971.

They were married OcL 17,1953 in Peru. She then Townsend married Howard E. Townsend, who survives. They were married Aug. 8, 1976 in Peru.

She was a homemaker and member of Trinity Wesleyan Church. Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Maria 0. Burke, Tulsa, six stepsons; three stepdaughters; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; four great- stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat- grandchildren; and one sister, Mary E. Doss, Peru. Preceding her in death were her parents, a brother and two sisters.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Wesleyan Church, 1128 S. Purdum St. The Rev. lay Shuck will officiate.

Burial will be in Layman Cemetery, Michigantown. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church. Ellers Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Margaret Hattabaugh Margaret Hattabaugh, 63, RR 1 Bunker Hill, died at 12:30 am. Monday, April 12, 1999, at her home.

Born May 25,1935, in Bell County, she was the daughter of William Henry and Amanda (Mink) Jackson. She was the wife of William "Bill" Hattabaugh, who survives. They a Townsend, and Amanda Hattabaugh, both of Bunker Hill; two sisters, Sally West, and Mary Neice, both of Concordia, Kansas; six grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren. Preceding her in death were three brothers and three sisters. Services will be at 10:30 a.m.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Ruth Cook Ruth A. Cook, 86, a resident of Veterans Home, Lafayette, died at 5:32 p.m. Sunday, April 11,1999, at St Elizabeth Medical Center, West Lafayette.

Born March 7, 1913, in Frankfort, she was the daughter of Walter E. and Jennie (Stevenson) Bowen. She was the wife of Elmer M. Cook, who preceded her in death. They were married May 1,1970 in Kokomo.

She was a retired nurse's aide at Howard Community Hospital. She attended Kokomo High School. She was a veteran of the U.S. Army. She was a member of the American Legion Post 418, Walton, and Women of the Moose Lodge, Kokomo.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Donald Eugene and Marilyn Rhodes, Lilburn, Ga; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia A. and Joseph Ingle, Kokomo; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four nieces; and four nephews. Ruby Houser Ruby Mae Houser, 91, died at 1:15 p.m. Sunday, April 11,1999, in Century Villa Health Care in Greentown. She was born March 19,1908, in Auburn, to John and Nellie (Lockwood) Dosch.

In 1931 she married Milton Clark, who died in 1974. In 1979 she married Robert Houser who died in 1997. She was a former Auburn Automobile Co. employee and also worked for Messenger Corp. She formerly lived in Fort Wayne, Coldwater, and Elkhart, and was a member of Freemont United Methodist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Lee Willie, Lake City, Mary N. Troyer, Malcomb, one stepson, Dennis Lloyd Houser, El Toro, Calif; two stepdaughters, Dorcas Ann Cleworth, Corona, Jane Lynne Houser, Garden Grove, one sister, June Mason, Greentown; nine grandchildren; and eight great- grandchildren. Also preceding her in death were a son, David Milton Clark, a daughter, Shirley N. Clark, and a brother, Frank Dosch. Services will be at at 2 p.m.
