ENCINA The Baltimore Sun KANSAS CITY, MO. Top Orioles prospects Hunter Harvey and Dylan Bundy, whose seasons have been derailed by injuries, are scheduled to pitch in instructional league next month. Harvey, who hasn't pitched in a game since extended spring training after being sidelined with elbow tightness, has been throwing bullpen sessions in Sarasota, Fla The 20-year-old right-hander is scheduled to pitch another side session today.

The club has him on pace to pitch in instructional league games beginning in mid-September. Provided he does well in instructional league, Harvey could pitch in the Arizona Fall League, which begins Oct. 13. "Everything's going good," Orioles manager Buck Showalter said of Harvey, the team's No. 2 prospect behind Bundy.

"If he can getback to instructional league and go to the fall league, he'd be in a good spot for next year." Harvey, who was impressive during his first big league spring training this year, suffered a hairline fracture in his right fibula pitching in a minor league spring training game in March. While rehabilitating that injury in extended spring in May, Harvey was shut down with elbow tightness and hasn't pitched in a game since. JOHN SLEEZERKANSAS CITY STAR Gerardo Parra, left, congratulates Chris Davis after Davis' two-run homer in the fifth, his team-high 35th this season. Davis, Manny Machado and Jonathan Schoop hit two-run homers as the Orioles returned to .500. Orioles bash their way out of a six-game losing streak Harvey's 2014 season was ended prematurely after he felt elbow tightness in August.

Bundy has an appointment to see orthopedist Dr. James Andrews on Monday, a previously scheduled follow-up after being diagnosed with a rare calcium buildup in his right shoulder in June. Provided Bundy is cleared, he is also expected to log innings in instructional league, but is not currently a candidate for the fall league. Andrews has recommended that Bundy rest instead of pitching in Arizona, suggesting that a normal A Hunter Harvey sas City rallies. After Wednesday's start, Chen has a 3.02 ERA on the road this season and has allowed three runs or fewer in all 11 starts away from Camden Yards this year.

The Royals (77-49) who entered the night 44-20 at home and had won five straight at Kauffman Stadium took a 2-0 lead in a second inning that included two doubles, a sacrifice bunt and a pair of infield hits. With one run in on Salvador Perez's RBI double, Paulo Orlando hit a ball that Davis made a diving snag on at first, but instead of making the out himself, he took himself out of the play by tossing to Chen late as Orlando beat it out for an infield single to put runners at first and third. No. 9 hitter Omar Infante then hit a swinging bunt to third that Machado had no play on, allowing Perez to score to give the Royals a two-run lead. The Orioles were able to get out of the inning because of a base-running gaffe by the Royals.

Alci-des Escobar lofted a ball to deep center, but Adam Jones caught it near the warning track and Infante passed Orlando on the bases just beyond second base and was called out. After Flaherty opened the third with a single, Machado jumped on a first-pitch hanging cutter from Cueto (2-3), sending it into the ORIOLES, From page 1 an estimated 427 feet down the left-field line for his 10th homer of the season. Six of Schoop's 10 home runs this season tied the game or gave the Orioles the lead. The Orioles' eight runs were the most they've scored since their 18-2 home victory over the Oakland Athletics on Aug. 16.

Their five homers in one game was the most since they hit a club -record eight homers June 16 in a 19-3 rout of the Philadelphia Phillies at Camden Yards. Entering Wednesday night, the Orioles (63-63) had scored three or fewer runs in seven of eight games and all seven of those games were losses. They hit more than twice as many homers in one game Wednesday as they did over their entire six-game losing skid (two). In addition to Schoop's blast, the Orioles received two-run homers from Manny Machado, his 26th of the season, and Chris Davis, who hit his team-high 35th. Steve Pearce (eighth inning) and Ryan Flaherty (ninth) added solo shots.

Orioles left-hander Wei-Yin Chen (8-6) allowed llbase runners (10 hits and one walk) through 62A innings but held the Royals to three runs. He was the beneficiary of three double-play balls that killed Kan- HOW THEY SCORED offseason could give the right-hander a better chance of being 100 percent for next spring training. Bundy pitched in eight games this season at Double-A Bowie, going 0-3 with a 3.68 ERA, before being shut down. He will be out of minor league options next year, so he must make the major league team out of camp or be passed through waivers. Bundy, the Orioles' 2011 first-round draft pick, ascended to the major leagues quickly, earning a September call-up in 2012 and making two scoreless appearances.

But Tommy John surgery cost the 22 -year-old the entire 2013 season and he has pitched in just 17 minor league games since. Wright could return soon Right-hander Mike Wright, who is on the major league disabled list with a strained left calf, is scheduled to throw about 60 pitches in a four-inning rehab start for Triple-A Norfolk today. After that outing, Wright could be an option to rejoin the major league club as soon as early next week, Showalter said. "His next outing could be wherever it's needed," Showalter said. "His next time would be at five innings and if you ever thought about it here, you'd be covering him with September call-ups.

You normally wouldn't bring a guy who could just throw five innings, but we should have some extra pitchers." There's not a spot for Wright in the Orioles rotation right now, but Miguel Gonzalez and Ubaldo Jimenez have struggled of late, which will make for an interesting decision for Showalter. Wright is 2-3 with a 4.99 ERA in seven major league outings (six starts) this season. He didn't allow a run in WA innings over his first two big league starts, but had a 9.98 ERA over his next four. Around the horn Designated hitter Jimmy Paredes made his first start since Aug. 12 on Wednesday, batting seventh.

Paredes' left-handed DH at-bats have been taken by Steve Clevenger, who is on the paternity list and won't return until Friday. Right-handed reliever Chris Perez, who signed a minor league deal with the Orioles on July 2, retired Saturday. Perez received a 50-game suspension in June for a second positive test for a drug of abuse and couldn't yet pitch for the Orioles. He was working out at the team's spring training complex in Sarasota Perez was a two-time AU-Star who had 30-save seasons with the Cleveland Indians in 2011 and 2012, but his career was sidetracked after he was charged with marijuana possession in 2013. Minor league catcher Jonah Heim, out since late May with a left foot injury, will play his first rehab game in the Gulf Coast League on Friday.

Outfielder David Lough was 2-for-4 with two runs scored Wednesday in his second game at Norfolk. He is 3-for-10 in two games there. eencinabaltsun.com twitter.comEddieInTheYard left-center-field seats to tie the game. Schoop's blast, which came with two outs in the fourth, occurred after Pearce's one-out single. Gerardo Parra opened the fifth inning with a leadoff single and two batters later, Davis took a full-count pitch the opposite way and into the Royals bullpen just beyond the left-field fence.

Pearce hit his eighth homer of the season off former Oriole Jeremy Guthrie in the eighth, his first homer since July 1L Pearce has multiple hits in both of his starts since coming off the disabled list Monday. After right-hander Brad Brach issued a two-out walk to Kendrys Morales in the eighth, Brian Ma-tusz entered the game to face Mike Moustakas for a matchup, but Moustakas hit a 2-1 fastball over the right-center-field fence to cut the Orioles' lead to 7-5. Darren O'Day recorded the final out of the eighth before Flaherty hit a 1-0 sinker from Guthrie an estimated 416 feet to center field. final York County, By Joe Kay Associated Press SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, PA. The closest thing to a home team at the Little League World Series is headed for the final of the U.S. bracket And Lewisberry can expect a full house when it goes for the tide. Left-hander Adam Cramer struck out 13 in five innings, and the undefeated Pennsylvania team known as Red Land beat Pearland, Texas, 3-0, on Wednesday night Cramer threw 87 pitches, allowed three hits and got all his outs by strikeout except two: a fly ball also beat Mexico 3-1 in the tournament for the International tide. "I'll talk to the coaches and see who pitches tomorrow's game," manager Domingo A.

Carrasquel said. "We have enough pitching for the remaining series." They won't get another chance like this one. Pitcher Yeiner Fernandez allowed only four hits through five innings. But he gave up two infield hits with one out in the sixth and switched positions with Johan Garcia, the shortstop. And on an 0-2 count with two outs, Shingo Tomita singled off Garcia to tie the score.

and a comeback grounder. Jaden Henline moved over from shortstop and got three more strikeouts in the sixth, escaping a bases-loaded threat Cole Wagner hit a solo homer, and Henline had an RBI single among his three hits. Pearland will play Bonita, today for a spot in the U.S. title game against Lewisberry, which is in York County, just over the Maryland line. The winner of that game Saturday will face the International bracket winner for the World Series tide a day later.

Thousands of fans made the two-hour drive from Lewisberry zuela, that was among the tournament's most exciting so far. "A tough game," manager Junji Hidaka said, in a tone of voice that didn't need translating. "The players were great." For Barquisimeto, it was as tough as could be. Twice the Venezuelans had a chance to finish Tokyo off and couldn't do it. And they had to go deep into their pitching to get through the loss, leaving them in a tough spot for their win-or-else game.

Barquisimeto will play Mexicali Baja California, Mexico, today. The winner gets a rematch with Tokyo on Saturday the Japanese team.
