Services are at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. These couples' ministries blended in common bond to form "The Letters of Life" for the declaring of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit has directed them in a unique ministry of presenting God's Word in music, bringing about the theme of their ministry, "His Words Our Song." Fred and Sharon Meeks have traveled throughout most of the United States in evangelistic ministry.

They have- become well known as gospel recording artists for many different recording" companies. He attended North Texas State. University on a music scholarship and Mrs. Meeks attended Southwestern Assemblies of God College. The couple combine their talents on the piano and bass to produce a distinctive "Letters" style.

Don and Faith Dunlap were two of the founders of "The Living Letters," which enjoyed several re. warding years of ministry. The couple has worked on the church staff of the Oak Cliff Assembly of God. He attended Southwestern Assembly of God College and was active in the Harvester Choir. Mrs.

Dunlap brings her soprano voice to the quartet. The diversity of ministry of the "Letters" through Methodists 9 survey polls preferences The Prairie Heights United Methodist Church, 2001 Pine has reported early findings of a church-preference survey the church is coordinating with other Grand Prairie churches. About 12 volunteers have contacted 315 homes in East Grand Prairie to inquire about church preferences. Information was solicited from telephone listings in a city directory. Because only half of the homes could be contacted by phone, the volunteers are making home visitations.

Members 'of the Council of Ministries and the Administrative Board have agreed the survey, evangelism and other outreach methods of strengthening the church at its present location would be the best use of members' efforts until the possibility of relocated Prairie Heights is decided. Such a move is pending developments by the North Texas Conference leadership to accommodate the growing population in South Grand Prairie. To date, the survey shows the following church preferences: Baptist 145; Roman Catholic 20 (Spanish surname homes not contacted); Pentecostal 11; Church of Christ 25; Assembly of God Other local Methodist churches 14; Disciples of Christ (Christian) miscellaneous denominations 23; Methodist preference (not Prairie Heights members) no preference or refused information 46. news i VIRGIL BARNES, Pastor of The Spirit Filled Baptist Church, donating plaques. Susan participates in the First United Methodist preschool program. Registration for fall enrollment is open now at the church (262-6148). Families need not be church members to enroll their children in the program. Baha'i ceremony exalts two souls The recent wedding of James Gamble and Sammye Lea Morrison at the Wesley Foundation at the University of Texas at Arlington, was not an elaborate ritual, there was no officiating clergyman nor was there a recited dogma. The ceremony, which was participated in by some Grand Prairians including Lloyd Sheffield was a Bahai wedding.

Sheffield, a member of the Baha'i community of Grand Prairie, explained, "In the Baha'i Faith, marriage is exalted as an expression of divine purpose. Out of the fusion of two souls, a new soul is created According to Baha'u'llah, prophet-founder of the Baha'i Faith, only the human soul is capable of recognizing God and reflecting His image. The raising and training of children toward this end is the purpose in the Baha'i Faith." Sheffield said Baha'i marriages are forever and "not just till death do-us part." If persons enter into wedlock viewing eachother as noble, spiritual beings, he said, their union will endure and progress throughout eternity. The Baha'i concept of marriage is unique in other ways, he pointed out. Permission must be granted by all living parents before a Baha'i wedding can occur.

This total consent helps to promote unity among family members of the bride and bridegroom. The writing of the Baha'i Faith promotes the oneness of the races of man, thus providing a sound spori- tual foundation for interracial marriages, Sheffield said "In the Baha'i Faith, the husband and equal partners in building a family. Neither is to d6mi- nate the other," Sheffield continued. "A Baha'i marriage is like a bird with two wings, one male, the other female With both working together in harmony and at fullest capacity, the family will take wing and reach its highest aspirations guided by thelight of God."
